Personality Summary: Generally a pleasant person, John often tries to steer away from conflict and enjoys a more cordial and entertaining conversation, as long as that person maintained that same dance and be respectful to him. He had virtually no taboo topic, he’d talk about his research, his daily life or even random stuff in an often witty way and understandable to normal people. Humble yet unabashed about his upbringing and accomplishments, he would engage with anyone while still being himself, a man of commoner's upbringing, and he would not be shamed for it. That is, in most interactions. There are certainly other people who are aware of John's more ferocious attitude, though very few could pin point to a consistent pattern. He could easily be openly threatening when he is angry, but other times with that same anger, he would back down and be dissonantly stoic. It would be difficult to actually feel it when he actually switches to his more colder more emotionless side of him. John has incredible control over his emotions, and could easily hide away what he really thought of a person and display what they wanted to see out of him: a good, kind, naive doctor. John has a remarkable intelligence both emotional and intellectual, though the former manifested later in his life. He is able to understand layers of complexities with little time, as well as observant people astutely. His position as a fellow of the Varian Institute allowed him to interact with people from all walks of life, from the lowest of commoners to even the most powerful lady of the Varian kingdom, giving him an encyclopedia of experience when it comes to dealing with people. His family inn used to be doing relatively decently in the capital Sorian of Caesonia, attracting lodgers from all across the kingdom due to their cheap price. Some of the inn customers throughout the years left behind books that they either forgot or did not need, which would be on display in the common area of the building. That, combined with John’s unusual aptitude for critical thinking, he, despite not knowing how to read at the time, was able to form words and short somewhat-cohesive sentences just by curiously looking through pages and pages of the books on the shelves. With some proper guidance from his parents, John was able to read texts properly and write cohesively at the age of 5, as well as recount familiar stories using descriptive languages. Upon realizing their child’s curious mind and almost insatiable desire to poke things around, Laura and Frances Williamson decided that their son would be much better educated, so they spent their wealth and savings to afford a school for John. And here is a man who loves education. He took to schooling rigorously, consistently being ahead of the learning curve where the teacher often relied on to help weaker students. John was much more passive and mild-mannered back then. But an outgoing personality, a helpful personality along with an overall non-offensive attitude earned him lots of friends, regardless of social classes. However, his time in Caesonia would come to an abrupt end by a paranoid ruler. John’s sociable personality and his education got him mingled with a fair number of aristocrats. Leaks went to king Danrose that one of his sons was befriending and often hanging out with John, a child of, according to him, ‘a scourge’. And that was it, enough reasoning to banish him and the entire family up north to the mountains. Frances knew that if they stayed up there, they would definitely die sooner or later. So the three of them decided to make a daring crossing through the mountains to the border river with Varian. The trip across the river almost drowned the family when their boat capsized. Thankfully, border guards noticed the family in peril and rescued them, but harsh climate, rough terrain, and diseases made the initial experience a living hell for the three. But they eventually and miraculously made it to the small town of Kolonivka, where they settled down. Having lost all belongings in the river trip, Laura and Frances were forced to do hard labour to make ends meet. Feeling great sympathy for his parent’s struggle, the then 12-year-old John too worked in the mines but managed to find a medical apprentice later with a family doctor in the town. At first, his job was merely menial labor of fetching tools, medicine, and preparing treatment, but the doctor was impressed by the young boy’s biological knowledge and sharp intuition, so she closely tutored him and allowed more increasing autonomy over the years. At a certain point, he was able to handle patients without supervision, effectively an independent general practitioner, just under another person’s name. One day, an outbreak broke out in Kolonivka. Many townsfolk fell severely ill, including the lords in the region. Doctors and officials gathered to tackle the increasingly overwhelming cases, and John was there. His hypothesis was initially disregarded, but as solutions began to run dry, it was put to the test, and soon enough, the outbreak was quickly contained. His precise prediction of the situation earned him a glowing reputation in the town and caught the attention of the local lords, who recommended John for a membership in the Royal Institute of Science at the age of 19, carrying out medicinal commissions across the country, while at the same time, giving him more social expertise along with it. He helped Dr. Hunter handle a mass health assessment program, as well as handling several small outbreaks here and there. However, after an expedition to the far north of Krasivaya to investigate yet another outbreak there, John's demeanour was noted to have changed. He was still mostly a friendly, kind and sociable person to everyone, but he seemed colder, more stoic and confrontational, but also more meditative. A lot of his simple living lifestyle manifested after the trip. Nobody understood exactly the reasons for the changes, but given the secrecy of the Varians behind that expedition, they knew it probably had something to do with it.

History
Did you grow up nurtured or neglected? Nurtured by my parents, neglected by God’s good humor, so I guess it balances out haha. When you were upset, where was your sanctuary? When I was younger, I would fall into my mother’s warmth. Now? I guess any quiet place works. Preferably a clean or fresh place. What were you like in your teenage years? Well, uhhh…trying not to starve I guess, haha. Oh and I got a relatively comfy job later on. How close are you to your parents? They hugged me, they sent me to school, they worked for my sake, they saved my life. I guess we’re pretty close. Do you have any trauma that haunts you? The taste of metal. Sounds weird, I know. If you want something more typical, I'm not a fan of strong river currents either. What advice would you give your younger self? You might not believe me, but everything will be alright. Just keep hanging in there buddy. Were you an obedient child or defiant? O…bedient? I tend to listen to what they say, but I have never been a problem for them, so they just let me do whatever I wanted for the most part. What is your biggest regret? Hmmmm…not that I could think of. Mostly lessons learned.
Romance
Have you ever been in love? I don’t think so. What is most important in a partner to you? Describe your dream partner. Other than loyalty and kindness, I’d say being genuine. I want to accept my partner for who she is, not who she wants me to see. How do you display affection? What is your love language? Hmm, really depends. It's harder to heal a hurt person with a kiss, despite what fairy tales might indicate otherwise. But at the very least, don’t fake it. Have you had your first kiss? What was it like? Never Do you believe in love at first sight? Why or why not? Is a high fever an indication that you’ll die? Probably not, and a proper checkup would help in both cases. What does marriage mean to you? Just a piece of paper by the kingdom, really. It means nothing much more to people who actually love. Are you currently crushing on anyone? …Not one that I can think of. Do you ever consider having children in the future? Haven’t crossed my mind, but as with the game of life:...maybe.
Personality
Describe your ideal Sunday morning: I’d sleep in a bit, wake up later and have a cozy simple lunch in my garden, surrounded by the lush florae and the vibrant faunae. What kind of person do you aspire to be? Hmm…a person who’s strong enough to weather the storms of life, I’d say, without losing himself. What bad habits do you have? People have been saying I’m too soft on people, so I’d say so, hahaha. If you could go back in time and change anything in your past, what would it be? Sometimes I wonder that too. The grass seems to always be greener on the other side. But at the end of the day, trading my yesterday is to wish my life away. What is your greatest fear? ...I'd definitely say a man with an obsession, and nothing to lose. They may try some really insane nonsense. And it's the innocent people who would be dealing with its consequences. What are your pet peeves? Oh my journal litters with complaints. Happens a lot when you work in an important esoteric field. Listing them all out would take a while. When you are in a sour mood, do you like to be alone or with others? I kinda already answered, but usually alone in a quiet clean place. Usually. Are you more likely to fight with your fists or your tongue? I'm not sure. I have a pen here.
