Outwardly personable, polite, and refined. Regardless of whether he’s truly enjoying his company, or silently suffering at his conversation partner’s idiocy, if he has reason to conceal his true feelings, the other party is unlikely to discern the difference. His barbed tongue will make its appearance against socially acceptable targets – or in private, when his vitriol is unlikely to be reported afterwards. Though sociable, there are very few people Wulfric is truly close to or whom he trusts. He’s the type to bottle up his emotions, as he is not free to express himself however he pleases. Thankfully, he has learned to channel his frustrations in a socially acceptable way, mainly through physical activity. To his enemies, he is known as a merciless, even bloodthirsty man, and so he retains a quietly fearsome reputation, though most daren’t mention it for fear of retribution.

Wulfric views other people mainly in terms of whether they can be useful to him or not. Even when he personally likes someone, he is cautious of such personal preference influencing his emotions. Granted, he is more susceptible to being biased against people he detests, but is aware of this flaw. That is why he is determined never to underestimate (or overestimate) another. Well versed in the politics of high society, it is a matter of course for him to know as much about others as is feasible. He is deeply aware of the social hierarchy and everyone’s place in it. Wulfric can make allowances for people acting outside the boundaries of their current role or status, but believes there must be a good reason for it – namely, that the result would be beneficial to him or the kingdom.

Wulfric Adelard Danrose was the first-born son of Edin and Alibeth Danrose. He was celebrated; as the heir apparent, his birth brought stability to his parents’ reign. His safety was of utmost importance, his development of greatest concern. He was groomed into his role as a prince since a young age. He had the best tutors instructing him, and the most loyal of servants attending to him. High expectations were placed upon him, but he fulfilled or surpassed them all. He was clever, attentive, responsible. Practically anything anyone could want in a prince.

However, besides his mother’s soft, subdued love, he lacked in affectionate relationships. Especially during his childhood, his father’s paranoia ensured that Wulfric knew not to befriend anyone. If he showed genuine regard for another person, after all, his father would warn him in private. There were even a few cases where Wulfric was prevented from any further interaction with people he was deemed to be too close to. It is likely due to this that he himself has sabotaged some of his younger brother’s friendships in the past. He has since matured past such pettiness, though he is by no means accepting of his brother’s antics.

If the young Wulfric had one blatant flaw, it was that he was quite the vicious child. This issue was not resolved for some years, as his father encouraged it. It was actually his mother who gently guided him in controlling his temperament and channeling his violent tendencies towards more…constructive pursuits. The reason he came to accept his mother’s influence over his father’s in this matter was a certain incident. It was a traumatic event which remained deeply ingrained in his memory, one which he would claim has granted him some direly needed perspective. Whatever it was that has happened has been thoroughly covered up.

It was to the relief of every of the King’s subject when Wulfric was no longer so wantonly sadistic. Servants especially were quietly grateful for the Queen’s success in tempering the young heir. Though he remained a harsh taskmaster, he became much more judicious and fairer in the application of both punishments and rewards. He also grew more discerning as to what kinds of people would earn no one’s pity even if he permitted them no mercy. Thus, the first prince has become rather favoured, and he is generally supported as the future ruler. In fact, it may be only the lack of a fiancée which prevents his early ascent to the throne. Naturally, finding an appropriate person to fill that role has become somewhat of Wulfric’s priority.[/hider]
