There's not much known about Mathias aside from the fact that he came into the nobility scene when he married the Queen's niece- Karla Camilia. Before that, Mathias was an unknown knight in the ranks of the Varian army serving in Breoven. It wasn't after the marriage that the Larsen house announced Mathias as the heir of the House and son of Oliver Larsen- the Royal Guard of Queen Rosa. A family who had served the crown for generations. 

Mathias and Karla lived in the Larsen estate as the nobility of Varian tried to dig anything on the couple. It seemed as if the marriage and Mathias himself had sprouted from thin air. There had been no courting that any of the high-ranking nobles had taken notice of. Mathias was a mystery himself. No past, no rumors, nothing.

The couple continued to live a relatively peaceful life. Two years into their marriage Karla became pregnant with their first and only child after months of trying for one. The delivery was long, lasting over ten hours before the baby was born into the world. Unfortunately, Karla had not been strong enough to make a full recovery. She lived long enough to hold her son and name him Lukas Oliver Larsen. Mathias stayed by her side as she passed just as the sun rose to welcome another day.
