[@Silverstein] One thing to the background that you misunderstood from the DM. The alternate realm is the Dreamlands (which contains it's own Earth separate from ours) and the Underworld is below the surface of the Dreamlands Earth. When I referred to the surface, I meant the surface of the alternate Earth. Just change that little detail and you are good.
