It does not matter that we will never reach our ultimate goal. The effort yields its own rewards. "

Name: Data Nicknames/Titles: Lt. Commander Data, the Android, "Pinocchio" Age: 30 Gender: Male Affiliation: Starfleet Officer (Hero) Personality: While Data's most defining interpersonal trait is his lack of emotions, he is hardly without personality. Foremost is his curiosity about the universe, humanity specifically, Data is an ardent scientist and explorer, hoping to discover answers to the deepest mysteries of both the cosmos and the human condition. He aspires to become closer to human with everything he does, but is not ashamed of who or what he is. Truly incorruptible, Data's ethics are held to him closely, and he holds the sacredness of life above all else. Besides that, he is friendly, outgoing, dutiful, precise in the way only a machine can be, and Data is utterly loyal to his friends and superior officers. Biography: Data was discovered and activated on the planet Omicron Theta by Starfleet Officers in the year 2338. He was only survivor among the original colonists of the planet, who had been killed by a crystalline entity, including his father and creator, cyberneticist Dr. Noonien Soong. Emulating his rescuers, Data joined Starfleet, and graduated the Academy with honors in probability mechanics and exobiology. He served for sixteen years aboard the USS Trieste before being posted to the Enterprise, the flagship of the Federation, under the command of Captain Jean-Luc Picard. There, Data has served with distinction as Science Officer and Second Officer, often taking command of the Enterprise when the captain or First Officer are indisposed. Data has had many adventures across his years on the ship, and has traveled across the time and the universe, giving him a wealth of unique experiences. Powers/Skills: Data was constructed both to emulate humans, as well as possess functions superior to them. His positronic brain is the most noteworthy technology incorporated into him, as it is a breakthrough in cybernetics that had only been accomplished once before, also by Dr. Soong. Data's brain grants him true sapience, as he is capable of learning, adapting, and recognition and reflection on the self. His processing speed is virtually instantaneous, exceeding 60 THz, and his memory capacity is rated at 100 petabytes (those memory banks having already been loaded with the sum total of 24th century human knowledge). Physically, Data has many ingenious systems meant to replicate human biological functions, but in actually possesses nearly none of them. As he does not need to breathe, eat, or sleep, he can operate for much longer than any human, and in conditions they would not be able to survive. His physical frame is shockingly powerful, as he is said to have the strength of ten men, capable of bending a parsteel bar, and his duranium frame is heavily resistant to physical shock. Besides his years of training, education, and experiences in Starfleet, Data has also come equipped with some of the Federation's fabulous technology. Data keeps his combadge pinned to his chest, bears a holstered type-2 phaser, and carries a TR-580 Tricorder VII. Other: Magic is technology, debate me.
