These sickly abominations of decay feast on the corpses of the dead - and if desperate for food - are not beyond killing for their meat. In truth ghols prefer fresher corpses but their small frame and weakly figure make fighting not ideal hence their role as scavengers of the night. The origins of these abominations is not truly known. Most cultures and religions affiliate them with black magic or necromancy. In Baneghora they are said to be those who have been cursed by the Dhumar and have been reborn as putrid husks of people and are forever trapped in a repeating cycle of cannibalistic existence. Sharaqism describes them as demons sent to defile those laid to rest by the archdevils. While speculated to be dull and thoughtless, ghols have enough state of mind to lurk about and sometimes cover their tracks when robbing graveyards or tombs of corpses to eat. They will often refill graves and close robbed coffins if they have the chance. Scattered tales are told of talking ghols and ghols making deals in exchange for corpses to eat though these are generally taken as mere stories and nothing more.

Giant scorpions are a breed of arachnid that plague a variety of environment but are most common in deserts, canyons, and hilly areas. Easily the size of a horse, these beasts are highly aggressive and a single one is dangerous to even a skilled group of fighters. In “packs” they are best avoided and to venture purposely or accidentally into a giant scorpion nest is nearly always a death sentence. Giant scorpions rely on their agility and a combination of attacking with their pincers and poisonous tail. A single deep jab can kill a human or Ayiralite in minutes without the help of anti-venom and even then it can be a gamble. Only the Duraalat can typically survive the poison of a giant scorpion without the need for remedy. Such a wound is still debilitating and should still be treated. Despite the danger hunters often seek out these beasts for a variant of reasons. Giant scorpion venom can be used for a number of remedies - and poisons - and their large size means they have an abundance of meat to be collected. The humble Baryakin hunt them for their tails, claws, legs, and venom sacs.

Standing ten feet tall and riddled with muscle, these great brutes are a bane to small villages and towns. They slaughter and feast upon livestock and pollute the outskirts with dung and carcasses they leave behind, the latter attracting ghols, werehyenas, and other unwanted creatures. What makes malarmudat a mystery is there bizarre pension for human and Ayiralite women. While they will easily slaughter a pen of goats or kill a stray yak for a feast, these monsters have a unsettling liking of hauling away women who are alone or outside at night. This of course has lead to a myriad of rumors and dark legends behind these creatures. Due to their horns and deep ebony fur and flesh they are associated with the abyss and devils. Many believe they target virgin or wedded women to carry them away to the archdevil Lahastas for him to defile them and steal their souls. Others say these beasts merely have a taste for the flesh and blood of women and prefer their taste to that of men. Other theories span from slavery to cruel brutalization. Malarmudat have tough hides and their thick layer of fur can act as a stop for missiles. Even the sharpest blades will take several strikes to cut through their skin. Malarmudat are however extremely vulnerable to fire. Malarmudat are by nature - despite their massive size and strength - cowardly creatures that will only fight to protect their lairs or against a foe that they obviously are far larger than. As they are nocturnal Malarmudat only are about at night and because of this and their pension to flee make hunting them extremely difficult.

Woe to they who come into the gaze of the Roc. These great birds of prey are massive - easily the size of buildings. They can carry away an elephant and topple a tower or palace when enraged. Fortunately Rocs are solitary creatures and lay eggs only once in their lives. When they mature the offspring scatter to the four winds and establish their territories high in the mountains, across the valleys, and along the coastlines. While not holding a preference for deserts due to the scarcity of water Rocs will venture into one if it borders their domain. Rocs are extremely difficult to kill and highly dangerous, a single one can lay waste to a small army. They are best avoided, the wise man and woman relying on stealth and low cover to avoid their talons and beaks. That said Rocs are fine hunting trophies and any who can kill one is usually rewarded by kings themselves for eliminating such a danger.

Creatures of distortion and violence, serpopards prowl the plains and deserts like any feline creature searching for prey. Although slower than their leopard cousins serpopards have combination of thick fur and hide to go with hardened scales. While not impenetrable this rough exterior makes only heavier weapons ideal for melee attacks against them. Serpopards are however very weak against magic attacks, all four elemental magics easily debilitating and killing them. Serpopards travel in groups of two or three, usually a male with one or two mates. When their cubs grow to maturity they spread out across nearby areas and avoid their birthing ground, though sometimes a young male may challenge his father for dominance. Serpopards may not equal to the speed and agility of leopards but they are still fast making them impossible to outrun. Their versatility in combat make them dangerous enemies and every move against them must be calculated. While not poisonous like a serpent they share their flexibility and limberness in regards to their long necks and tails and their massive fangs are of course not to be underestimated.
