[indent]Anya's moral compass is a bit bent, due to the trauma she experienced growing up, but when she is given the freedom to choose, she does have a strong sense of what is good and bad. While she has cynicism for her future, and for herself in general, knowing well enough what she is, what she does, and where it'll all lead, she still tries to enjoy the little things, like breakfast at the diner. When it comes to her brothers, she shows an amused, sarcastic side. Occasionally, the jokes take surface in public but usually behind a deadpan expression. There are two sides of Anya, a deadly focused soldier and an innocently playful child. Both are who she is, she simply can't show her inner child all the time. There's a time and place for everything.  [/indent]

Only a handful of people know the story of Anya Kamensky and none of those people have Anya in their best interest. If anything, they only care about what she can do as the Basilisk than what she wants as a person. That's the thing, Anya wasn't raised to be [i]human[/i]. She wasn't raised with friends. She wasn't raised like ordinary kids. She was far from normal and her nights weren't something a common man would call 'the usual'. Still, she desperately sought out normalcy which was extremely hard to attain with the employers she has. 

Yet, if you see her in the crowd, noticing that deep, sharp stare with depth beyond her years, and build trust with her, you would find out that she can laugh, she can joke, and she can cry. She's at a point in her life where she's come to terms with the cards dealt to her. Now she spends her numbered days on the job, searching for purpose. If she dies knowing she did at least one good thing, amongst all the terrible things she's done, then she will be content. Her long list of sins can't be forgiven but she can redeem her perception of herself if she finds an explanation behind everything she's been through.  

Anya is the granddaughter of the notorious Vanya, nicknamed Niya (Translation, Lechitic god of the underworld), who was one of the best art thieves, worldwide. Vanya ended up disappearing off the face of the Earth, or what we call went into hiding in a small town in Massachusetts called Edenridge. She settled but years later authorities took her in, leaving her baby daughter to the foster care system. There's a myth that says somewhere in Edenridge she's left a map which leads to her treasures. Of course that's all childish things to believe in. There absolutely isn't a stash of relics, artifacts, and art just buried somewhere, right?

From there, we follow Taisiya Kamensky who was believed her blood was cursed. No one wanted to take her in and those that did, immediately blamed her for any inconvenience. Never adopted, never in a house for more than a month, Taisiya was kicked out when she reached the age of 18. Struggling and sleeping in the graveyard most nights, Taisiya eventually met a seemingly kind woman that decided to take her in and entertain the young woman's dreams of becoming an actress some day.  This woman, who shall not be named, was part of the SSS but her expertise was part of an even seedier area in Edenridge. There was the southside and then there was the underworld. The underworld is neither south nor north. It is what lurks behind every corner. All the hidden secrets and hidden agendas. Sin and pleasure go hand in and hand. The woman took Taisiya in and made her one of the best prostitutes Edenridge had, to the point that the "Red Diamond" became an [i]attraction[/i] for those in Massachusetts. 

Not only did she sell her body but she helped her employer gather and sell information. Under the small Silverlight theater, there hides a whorehouse that has turned into a gentlemen's club over the years. The White Room. It's still running to this day but it isn't talked about. That is an unspoken rule and if you talk, you suffer severe consequences from the person running the show. 

In time, the aspiring actress met Ivan Zima who gave her attention beyond belief and made her feel loved, even though she knew well enough he wasn't hers. He gave her a good time and shared a blissful moment with her and there she got pregnant with Anya. After that point, Taisiya's life turned upside down and she became a pawn in her employer's game, finding out six years later that her employer owed a debt. Without much of a discussion, Anya was ripped away from Taisiya. This moment defined the Red Diamond's life because from there on out she succumbed to addiction and abuse, which eventually led to her death. How she went, no one seems to know or is willing to tell.

What happens to Anya in the years between 6 and 23? You'll have to wait and see. [/indent]
