Houses are constructed in lumber cobbled together in a spiderweb network of ropes that often leaves sections suspended above the water. Although dwellings may look precarious at best to outsiders, each make has weathered both sea and storm and survived. The climate here is tropical and often too wet and humid a place for anyone unfamiliar with the area. Those that call it their home however swear by the sunset's kiss on a dusk sea.

Lawai surrounds an active volcano. There have been no eruptions in recent years.

Gravendau is governed by a collection of five captains. These five hold their seats by virtue of wealth, power, and influence. Other captains can challenge them for their seats by amassing more of any of the above, or, by way of a duel to the death.

The climate is fairly dry despite being situated near the coast. During the summer, dust storms sweep through from the North mountain pass and strong winds are a common occurrence during the rest of the year. The numerous windmills dotting the surrounding landscape is a sign of the settlement's early adaptation to their home's unique weather.

Ilimare is a reclusive state situated in the mountains on an island of sheer cliffs and surrounded by a tumultuous and unforgiving sea. Approach by ship is further exacerbated by the wall of jagged rocks just below the water's surface. Although a path through exists, the exact route is difficult to find for the inexperienced and even more difficult for those uninvited; and very few are ever invited.

Besides by sea, there is also travel to Ilimare by a single bridge spanning the length between the island and their settlement on the mainland. The bridge is impossibly long, taking as much as three days to cross, and there is very little shelter along the route save for a stop at it's midpoint. Beyond that, one may try their luck crossing the frozen sea during the Winter months and surviving the climb once they've reached the walls of the island.

From within it's walls, most if not all citizens are masked.

Solem remains the seat of power in the known world and is looking to expand it's reach far beyond the edges of the map.
