There are various rumors and reported sightings of things such as people possessing superhuman ability, and sightings of such things as ghosts, cryptids, and the like. Of course they're mostly spread as misinformation and hoaxes for people gain traction for their social presence. Mostly. There are still those curious enough to pry where they likely shouldn't, and those who may find something they'll wish they hadn't.

As for the story itself, the occult is more of an aspect and not so much a major focus. How important such things are to the characters are entirely up to the players. Some players may choose to pursue the supernatural story beats while others are welcome to follow the crime or mundane elements of the story.
