Most weren't too impressive. Basic knives or small swords, and even a few model firearms, but Chen wasn't quite as interesed in those. The selection, all things considered was pretty small, though given the size of the city it wasn't that surprising, the lower floor was probably significantly more popular. But nevertheless, it was still fun to look around. Chen took one look back at the Khopesh laid in the case. It was probably just made of hardened plastic or some sort of soft metal like tin or aluminum, but he'd still kill for it. Well, maybe not kill but he'd definitely do some shady stuff for it. Well, that was a fun half hour. Maybe tomorrow he'd find some more new stuff on display from that shipment Wantanabe mentioned. Speaking of, where was the old guy? A quick scan of the room revealed him sitting behind the counter, cleaning the glass. He gave Chen a quick glance, nodded as he approached. "Hey kid, like the new toy?" "Heh, as if you had to ask. Anymore like that coming in soon?" Wantanabe looked up from the counter he'd been cleaning. "Nothing quite as exotic as that, I'm afraid. More of the usual. Though if you check in sometime near Halloween thats when I get some of the fancier stuff. Some of those cosplayers are willing to pay good money for that kind of stuff." Halloween huh? That was quite a while away. He'd need to save up for something around then. And speaking of money... "Hey, Wantanabe, just out of curiosity, would you be looking for any part-time help? Ive got school and all, but I wouldn't mind spending my off time here working. I come here often enough as is." Wantanabe looked down at the counter, tapping his finger on the glass. "Well, as much as I'd love to have someone as enthusiastic as you helping out, I'm not hiring right now. And even if I was, I'd probably have to put you to work downstairs. It's where most of the traffic is, and as much as I know you like your weapons and what not, you have to be at least 18 to work up here because of the model firearms. Sorry, but it's the law." Chen looked down disappointed. It was a shame, but what could he do? "Well, thanks anyways. I'll stop by again sometime." He gave a short wave as he headed back down the stairs. As Chen walked towards the exit, however, he noticed something that stuck out amongst the figurines: A lone umbrella, hot pink, for just ¥750. Fate was cruel indeed. The protection he so desired from the rain, at the cost of looking like a dumbass. Was it truly worth it? Yes. Yes it was. Slapping ¥800 on the counter, the cashier scanned the umbrella and gave Chen his change. Stepping outside, Chen opened his new umbrella. It worked like a charm, the rain splattering against it, keeping his face dry. Hopefully the walk home will be a short one.
