You can always build your bladelock to be more of a front line character to if you want to flavor. A warlock who focuses more on physical attacks rather than spells and lower the need to a high charisma and instead make it one of the middle stats and focus on Con and Dex instead as a higher stats. Wouldn't be as effective with spells but you could pad your spells out with utility rather than attack. 

Ultimately you do what makes you happy it's just a thought I had.
