5 years ago PapaOso (Shields of War) began a story.  We all know about Professor Xavier and the countless tales of his X-Men.  Our story was adjacent and far more original.  You have all been tagged as a call to arms.  With PapaOso's blessing, I want to bring about an ultimate culmination.  I want to see the characters from Oso's first iteration, the first generation of The New Era, and I want to see characters from the latest iteration helmed by Alma and Pilatus (Avalon Rising).  And I want to see new faces as well.  

All of you have created a character, but none of you have had a chance to see that character through to their story's natural ending.  I want to offer you all, new an old, an adventure that that will be intense, memorable, frantic and hopefully ultimately satisfying.

I'm inviting every generation of X-Men: The New Era players, spanning the last 5 years, for [i]at least[/i] one last bout.  One more sprint into the fray.  One more insane, cataclysmic threat that only we, the initiated, are foolish enough and brave enough to step up to.

There are some natural questions that need answering.  What's is the plot?  Is this a reboot or a continuation? Can we bring back old characters or create new ones?

Yes.

There are several variations of the plot, depending on who signs up and how many legacy characters we have across differing generations of this story.  Generation 2 was a total reboot of Generation 1, with a few shared characters.  The roster changed even futher (but not completely) with Generation 3 and beyond, as well.  If only people from the very last game join up, then the plot will be one way.  If people across all generations of the game show up, then the plot will be vastly different.

What one can obviously expect are common elements.  This story centers around a school that mirrors Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters.  This is Ashford Institute for the Gifted, founded by Malcolm Ashford - a dear associate of Xavier's.  This institution is home to original mutants with fantastic abilities who try to make it in a world that fears them while also using their powers to protect eachother and society at large.

You are a student at this institute.  You are a mutant.  You are unique.  You have a power or powers.  You have a special ability or abilities.  The world doesn't trust your kind and many malevolent mutants give credence to their skepticism and bigotry.  You've been sent to this school because it was all your parents knew to do and now you must make it here, harness your powers, use them to the best of your ability to protect yourself and the world.

But its not all classes and assignments.  It's not all passing notes and hanging out in the quad.  This is not Slice of Life.  My intention, my goal, is to make you a bit on edge. There will be blood.  There will be heartache.  There will be death.  The drama is not going to be limited to PG.  Shit will get heavy.  I request that anyone looking to take part in this literary endeavor please be 18+, not because there are any overtly sexual themes, but because I don't want to feel guilty when the narrative starts getting real.

Are you ready?  Are you up for it?  Lets put on the uniform at least once more, and then buckle the fuck up. I'm taking the wheel this time and the ride is going to be bumpy.
