"Peggy..." "I'm here." "I'm gonna need a rain check on that dance." "All right. A week next Saturday at The Stork Club." "You've got it." "Eight o'clock on the dot. Don't you dare be late. Understood?" "You know, I still don't know how to dance." "I'll show you how. Just be there." "We'll have the band play something slow." "I'd hate to step on your..." Steve woke with a start, looking down at the clock it was 4:00 in the morning. He heard someone exit their rooms. One trait that Rogers thought was both a gift and a curse: his peak human hearing made him a very light sleeper. He decided to get up as well. He walked in to his bathroom and took a shower. He exited in his usual attire. His short blonde hair neatly done, and in a gray therma-fit S.H.I.E.L.D. shirt, some black cargo pants and boots. He did what he usually did when he couldn't sleep: workout. He did pushups, sit ups, crunches, jumping jacks, you name it. As he did so all he could think about was how Astrid was going to do today. It was her first day of training, and Natasha was still out, so it left him to teach her. When it looked at the clock he realized that he had been working out in his room for some time. Two hours. He sat up, and looked around. His room was spacious, but not too large. It had two windows that showed the New York Skyline, a comfortable bed, and all over the room were 40's antiques. A very old Brooklyn Dodgers poster (his favorite team, and was shocked to hear they moved to LA), an old Uncle Sam poster, photographs of family, and two on a small night stand next to his bed. One of Bucky Barnes, and the other of Peggy Carter. He sat down at a table, and opened a file he had opened many times before. He read the names and looked at the faces of the people he fought alongside with during World War II. All fantastic men and women who risked their lives. Most were deceased, others were retired like Peggy... but he could never get the courage to see her face. He also flipped past a man named Logan Howlett, a man who seemed to survive more things than Steve did himself. He heard chatter from downstairs... they were all up he guessed. Closing the files, he made his way downstairs just in time to see Astrid glowing... Everyone was in awe, Stark was speechless. "So... ah... when were you gonna tell us?" Rogers asked, not meaning it in a harsh way, just a simple question. after all, if he was going to be her mentor, he should have known about this kind of stuff.
