[@PatientBean] You do not have to be purely human. Magical talents are often inherited from congress with various magical creatures. I'm thinking more along the lines of magical bloodlines, but if you can make a case for a full on fantasy race I will listen. Keep in mind you do need to be able to pass as human and interact with human society.
