However, his scores in decision-making and morality leave something to be desired. He is all too willing to risk innocent lives in pursuit of his goals, and his means seem unnecessarily brutal at times. I worry that his cynical world view, compounded with the identities of his parents, would make for a difficult case. || Practical test || Mr. Wolff showed impressive combat aptitude during his practical exam. While he might not be the most powerful Gifted we've seen, he uses his abilities with a cleverness that is almost frightening. He is a creative mind when it comes to combat. He displayed an excellent understanding of how and when to use his abilities, and his combat skills were impressive for an applicant with no formal training. Ultimately, I worry that rejection from either Crystal Peak or Crestview would take Mr. Wolff out of our view, and this feels like a colossal misstep. || Written essay topic || Mr. Wolff wrote a very compelling essay about collateral damage in Hero work, highlighting the rising stats and positing some possible causes behind the rise. Worth noting that he neglected to mention his personal connection to the subject, and some of his language implied a persistent focus on the topic. Like I noted earlier, we must be very careful not to subject Mr. Wolff to further exclusion or trauma on behalf of the Gifted community. So I'm not gonna sit here and pretend that I'm some perfect paragon of virtue. What I will say, is that I'm the person who does what needs to be done. I'm the one who can get the launch codes back, or steal the files that need stealing. Most heroes are hammers, which is fine, because most villains are nails. He's also one of the only kids in the school that can remotely access technology. Wanna know if your boyfriend's cheating on you? Douglas will waltz right into his DMs and give you all his dirty secrets. Need a nasty picture scrubbed from the internet? Douglas is your man. He's more than just a lap dog. To him, computers are friends, willing to do anything if he asks nicely. The very building blocks of civilization whisper to him. From microwaves to virtual assistants, if it's powered by electricity or receives a signal, Douglas can feel it, speak with it, and control it. This ranges in application from remote piloting and activation, to full on control of a system, allowing him to push technology past it's intended function. When using his power to it's fullest extent, he can see through your phone camera, dig through your search history, and corrupt any file he'd like, all without leaving the comfort of his bed.
L I M I T A T I O N S
When in his normal state of consciousness, Douglas is unable to do much more than issue simple commands. If you could do it while sitting at your computer, Douglas can do it from a hundred feet away. In order to exhibit full control over a piece of technology, Douglas must actually shift his consciousness into the device, leaving his body vulnerable to attack. If he were to die in this state, there's no telling what would happen to Douglas' mind.
C O M B A T
Douglas relies heavily on the use of gadgets in combat, as well as his own weapons training. Douglas wields a handful of devices in battle, that he can interface with and use in the heat of battle. His primary weapon is a staff, lovingly designed by Abe Blackwell, outfitted with tasers on either end, and a sonic transmitter that was built to produce a noise high pitched enough that it'll bring a human to their knees. Both devices can be activated with just a thought. Also on his toolbelt are a set of remotely detonated smoke grenades, a small drone designed to inject an adversary with a highly effective sedative, and two specially made throwing knives, affectionately nicknamed Thelma, and Louise . The hilt of each knife is actually a drone, programmed to return to the sheaths on his ankles. Do not let him take out Thelma and Louise.
[sub]
⋙: A P P E A R A N C E [sup]& P E R S O N A L I T Y[/sup]
[/sub]____________________________________________________________________ D A I L Y L O O K S & S T Y L E

Hair: Black | Curly | Long, covering his forehead, both perfectly messy, and perfectly positioned. He's a scoundrel with a code, to clever not to con as much as he can out of life, but too altruistic to truly give himself over to a life of maliciousness. He believes in his own code of ethics, one that simply insists on punching up rather than down. No matter what, he's never gonna make the little guy his enemy. The big guy on the other hand? Well, there's nothing Douglas hates more than pompous asshole who doesn't deserve what they've got. When Douglas decides you're out, he'll make it his mission to expose you, consequences be damned. If he wasn't so sure that his way was the right way, this might be a virtue. However, Douglas only listens to those he respects, and his respect is painfully hard to come by. Snobby, self serving and smart, Douglas Wolff is the person the heroes need, the one who walks the line they're all too scared to walk. Before the Raid, he lived with his parents in a penthouse apartment, enjoying a life of luxury. He always had a knack for technology and video games, and eventually he had a younger brother to share in his passions. There was always something to do, food to eat, friends to meet and mischief to make. Sure, that life might've been bankrolled by the myriad of shady jobs his parents never wanted to talk about, but things inside that penthouse were perfect. Until they weren't. Douglas remembers the night of the Raid almost perfectly. The sound of glass shattering awoke him from his sleep. He'd thought it a dream, until he heard the fighting outside his door. At twelve years old, he stood in that doorway, too afraid to call out, too stunned to turn away, and watched his father get beat into submission by a creep in a cape. That night, everything changed. His mother was arrested, and his father succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. It hadn't even been a team of real heroes who'd taken him down, just a bunch of amateurs fresh out of Crystal Peak, who'd caught a lucky lead. There wasn't even a funeral. Douglas and Dylan were forced out of the penthouse, had the majority of their possessions reclaimed as stolen property, and shipped off too Harris Point, Montana to live with their uncle. Jacob Wolff was nothing like their parents, and he was unprepared for two young children to show up on his door. Still, he tried his best to protect the boys, and as Douglas' powers began to manifest, he did what he could with what little he had, to support his nephew. Grieving the death of his father and the imprisonment of his mother, Douglas turned to technology for comfort. With the manifestation of his gifts, he was never truly alone, not in a world where circuits and wires connected everything around him. Those early years in Montana weren't perfect, but they weren't terrible. They settled into a routine, him and Dylan and Jacob, and eventually, Douglas started to feel safe. He should've known it wouldn't last. Jacob was at work when the fight between Gammadon and Rapture touched down in Harris' Point. Rapture flew Gammadon into the ground so fast it created a 6.3 magnitude earthquake that almost destroyed the small town. Jacob had been three stories up, working on a roof when the quake began. He fell to the ground, shattering his spine, and leaving him paralyzed from the waist down. The life that Douglas had begun to settle into was once again torn apart, by the people who'd supposedly sworn to protect him. That day, Douglas made the decision to live life for three people: his brother, his uncle, and himself. His abilities allowed him to follow in his parents' footsteps easier than most, and with far less evidence. Pretty easy to wire yourself money and cover up your tracks, when you can hack an ATM with your mind. Douglas became the primary caretaker of the family, providing money that his uncle refused to question, and in the meantime, he set his sights on Crystal Peak. He was going to do anything in his power to get his hero license, and expose them for what they were: uncaring fucking monsters. When acceptance letters rolled out though, it wasn't Crystal Peak that took him in. It was Crestview. Once again, the heroes of the world had refused him entrance into the circle of safety they provided one another. Once again, they'd relegated him to the shadows, better to be forgotten than dealt with. He took the slight in stride. He was better than Crestview, better than Crystal Peak, and he would show it to them all.
