That's how humanity works: for each friend there's an enemy, for each love there's hatred." Gender: Male Age: 25 Appearance: Tristan is a short and rather slim young adult, standing no more than 5'4'' (1,63 m) and weighing 138.9 lbs (63 kg). His hair was originally brown and his eyes were green before, but his magical powers changed them to white hair and gray eyes. Another mysterious physical trait is the single horn located on his forehead. Otherwise, there isn't anything too apparent from Tristan's physical appearance to be duly noted. His sense of style, however, is something to note. He wears a black t-shirt and two extra layers, those being one single black and purple jacket that covers his mouth and has a strange symbol on the neck (which Tristan has absolutely no idea of what it means), and a hooded black blazer to complement even more how much Tristan wishes to hide from the public eyes. He also wears black ripped jeans and military brown boots. Personality: Quiet | Blunt | Secretive | Lost Tristan is someone who doesn't speak too often. It's not that he's shy or anything, he just doesn't enjoy conversation and prefers to just talk about what's necessary instead of going on with idle bantering and nonsensical chatter. In that sense, he's seen much of being a complete loner who doesn't want to create social relationships with others. However, what actually happens is that Tristan often finds himself uncomfortable talking about some scenarios, like relationships, his past life, etc. If he's needed to talk, however, Tristan doesn't mince words and is rather blunt about everything and anything. He doesn't think twice to speak about his opinions on life and other subjects, neither does he think about how he should express himself or if his expression might hurt someone in the process. If, for example, someone were to ask him about their clothing, and Tristan finds it hideous or disgusting, he will say it, whether the other person likes it or not. This leads to a number of problems with his socialization skills, since he doesn't think before speaking. Something else that is duly noted about Tristan is that he is very secretive about his life and his reasons. He doesn't like to talk about what he went through, about his powers, and about what exactly made him obtain them in the first place. He also prefers to do things without the need to explain himself all the time, believing that it'd make sense without him giving a long and detailed story of what and why he does the actions he takes. Because of his past, Tristan is pretty much lost when it comes to thinking about the future. He doesn't remember any of his previous hobbies, and he shows no interest in acquiring one. He's pretty much given up on the idea of having something to like or to look forward in life, yet lives because he has to. History: Tristan Kingley Parter is the sole child and heir to a famous corporation called Parter Pharmaceutics, one of the biggest medical manufacturers in the psychological treatment department, currently run by his own father. He used to live in a manor with his father, mother, and the great number of butlers and maids that serve the family. However, nowadays, he lives in a rundown apartment, alone. Ever since his birth, Tristan was already placed unto the way of the corporative administration, since his own father wanted him to take upon the legacy of the family upheld throughout the years. The problem was that Tristan wasn't fit for being an administrator. He wasn't terrible, but he was once a free-spirited boy who had other dreams, which didn't run in tandem with the path set in stone his father wanted him to follow. Because of that, most of his childhood was basically reading books about administrative techniques and business venturing. All that effort didn't make much progress, since Tristan wasn't being the "ideal" image of an heir. His father started to be more rigid around his son, employing even more discipline and forcing Tristan to abandon his own hobbies and dreams, with the objective of molding Tristan as the perfect boss to take over a company. Such an approach didn't work at all, and Tristan kept doing worse and worse since the demands his father made were completely forceful and highly difficult for a child to work with. This was when Tristan was first introduced to cursed energy and when his powers finally started to show. His father was the first "battery" of malevolence that he was exposed to, as he began to feel how much his father despised his lack of progress and how he started to demand more while not giving an ounce of praise or recognition, only criticism. From that point onwards, Tristan started to feel the negativity of the ambiance around him. The butlers' complaints about how demanding it was to work for the Parters, the maids' selfish desires to take upon the place of his own mother... even the curses coming from strangers who wished for others to be unlucky or have bad things happen to them. And so, he started to absorb this malevolent energy upon himself, leading to the true birth of his magical ability: Curse Amalgam. When his ability began to show its fangs, a series of unfortunate events happened all around the Parters: expensive objects started to break out of nowhere, butlers and maids grew weaker on random occasions, and numerous deals started to be broken between the company and its partners, with the list going on and on. The situation started to become worse for the family since their success started to finally decline, and their prestigious legacy was crumbling apart. All of them were affected by this strange wave of bad luck and pessimism. All but Tristan. When he completed 18 years old, Parter Pharmaceutics was teetering the thin line to bankruptcy. Everything started to fall apart, and eventually, it caught up to the residents as well. Tristan's father started to lose his own mind, worried about how his beloved family legacy was in shambles, and his mother grew ill, physically and mentally. Then something finally appeared on his head: a singular black horn on his forehead. Tristan didn't know what exactly was it, and he tried to remove it, only causing him a splitting headache. When his father saw it, he immediately deemed Tristan a "demon", that he was sucking all of the Parter family's light, and was the cause for everything to fall apart. Tristan wasn't able to mutter a single word, when he was expelled and cut out of the family for good. Years later, with a makeshift living of his own, Tristan now lives in a rundown apartment that, for all luck, his mother decided to give him so that her son won't live on the streets. That's when Tristan received a strange invitation directly addressed to him... With it, Tristan basically works as a "curse magnet", drawing whatever malevolent energy people exude throughout their words, feelings, thoughts, visions, etc. This is something that cannot be stopped, so he's constantly "devouring" this negative energy from everyone. An example of consumed energy that Tristan constantly devours is someone's bad luck. However, just as Tristan cannot control whether or not he can devour the cursed energy, he can't control where this energy will be emitted either. He's constantly dispersing this negativity towards something or someone, so if any harmful event happens to a person or an object, it's most likely due to the fact that Tristan's emitting this energy so that he can consume more energy coming his way. He's also unable to be affected by any sort of blessing of buff caused by magic. Because he's an amalgamation of curses, concepts such as "luck" or "probability" are completely inexistent: everything that happens in Tristan's life is a result of a dispersed curse that just so happened to affect something or someone in his way. Despite all of this, Tristan's powers can be resisted or outright blocked by certain types of magic. If a person's magic power is constantly dealing with probability or benevolence, the curses are outmatched by that person's aura and they cannot affect in the same potency they do with other people, or at all depending on the magic. Examples of this application refer to manipulators of luck or light element manipulators since this curse energy is predominately dark. This can also be applied to people whose magic involves the augmentation and buffing of physical and mental prowess, as those powers will immediately clash and cancel each other. There is also the fact that this cursed magic tends to avoid other dark elemental-related magic users. This is because those curses might convert themselves into extra energy because of the elemental affinity, and the curses themselves don't exactly wish to help, but rather to obstruct. Combat: When it comes to using Curse Amalgam in combat, Tristan's main ability is to manipulate the energy to generate cursed attacks and weapons. His most used ability is to generate a bow and arrows made of this cursed energy, but he can do much more with it, once he starts gathering experience on how to use this ability in fights. But there's a catch: Tristan cannot deal physical damage whatsoever. All of his attacks are meant to diminish his opponent's physical and mental prowess since his powers are literally immaterial energy compared to something like fire or ice. In that sense, it's not a stretch to say that his main role is as a debuffer, whose sole purpose is to weaken his enemies for someone else to finish. But just like his powers act up in real-life scenarios, combat is no different. The cursed energy may be good for making enemies weaker, but that doesn't mean that his allies are safe. Unless they are immune or resistant to this energy like noted above, the curses will interfere into Tristan's allies combat prowess and he won't be able to control it.
