From the Primordial Sea a hill rose up and upon it a burning egg willed itself into existence. From that egg Ra was born. Ra, the firstborn of the Primordial Sea and creator of the world. Ra, king of the sky, the land, and the sea. He uttered the true name of things, and through that power ushered them into existence. He did so with rocks and rivers but also with gods. So too did he create Hathor, to be his wife.

Ra was not a benevolent god. With his power he created the land and the sky and then – from his tears - people. Whose charge he soon passed on to his son, Osiris. Ra had more important things to attend. Primary he was to govern all of creation. Through great care and the power True Names he created the world. In those times he still wandered across the world, amongst the mortal people. When he was finished, however, he found that the world had become disrespectful toward him.

He once again asked his Eye to do his bidding. Sekhmet came into being. A goddess with a singular purpose: to bring carnage upon the world of man. For a while he was satisfied. The worst of the worst were soon purged but Sekhmet did not stop. Not even when Ra implored her. That’s when Ra realized his mistake. To rectify it he brewed a beer as crimson as blood and poured it out in her path. She drank, got drunk and fell in a slumber. In that slumber, Ra took back some divine essence from her. Taming her in the process.

At the same time, Isis was already whispering in her ear about Hathor as well. Some say that Isis stole Ra's true name. Others would say that Ra left Hathor and the world on his own accord. Which ever was the case, Ra left the world that mortals and gods shared. He flew up to the heavens. And when Osiris, his favorite son, became king of the underworld the sun began to move across the heavens. Half a day Ra would let the world bathe in his life-giving rays. For the other half, he would do battle with the forces of chaos in the underworld. And so the cycle of life and death came to be.

When  he woke up again in the sands of Egypt, he found his once-beloved land muddled and molded by foreign influences. His fall from grace was horrible. To say that Ra felt diminished would be an understatement. He didn’t make an effort – at first – to find his own people. He travelled through parts of the world hoping to find some answers. But when the little divinity he held was starting to slip from his fingers he knew he could not lose more.

How, exactly, he came to know about the World Tree and its nourishment is a well-kept secret by the god of the Sun. He did appear during the solemn event and he did sip from the essence of the tree. Which revitalized his own strength. Since that first gathering, Ra has worked hard to regain every ounce of his former supremacy. He took on many mantles – warlord, mystic and artist among others – to achieve this goal. Each time he learned more about the mortal world he left behind. Though he never fell enamored with it again. In the end Ra always chose solitude.

Somewhere after the Second World War Ra began to gather power. It started with the exploitation of oil from the Middle East. With that money, he began to rebuild his economic empire. These days it is called the Solaris Conglomerate. Under its wings are international energy companies, shipping and transport, biomedical and pharmaceuticals, and even aviation and private aerospace companies. Saeed Khepris has been featured in a fair few more prominent publications. It would appear the God of all Creation is rebuilding his domain.
