I mean, it's not that hard for the site manager alone to find out that you are the one who did a thing.  It's even easier if a guy known for a bit of sleuthing didn't even have to look very hard!  Still, her reaction was puzzling, and the girl's next words seemed to confirm that...nothing at all was meant by it.  He'd thought it was something like a smack in the face, or some kind of trolling.  He'd responded to it in a funny way in order to show that he was taking it as some sort of funny challenge, and that would quell things better than directly taking it as insult.  Really, the whole thing had confused him, and the timing...well...he explained.
