Pathia: a multi-platformed city cast into the sky with the use of advanced arcane mechanics and engineering. Massive chains connect the platforms to keep them at a consistent distance from one another. Large cables for aerial trams and chains also connect the floating city to the sky port city below. Taking the aerial tram from Port Yst Nyrias (the lowest district of Pathia) to the first floating platform of Wrehan Ysta, travelers can see the grand expanse of the region around them. Lush forests contained by grand towering mountains; the sea can be seen shimmering far off in the southern distance. As far as the eye can see, the bountiful beauty that the land provides can be seen. However, to the north, it seems shadow has consumed areas just shy from the mountains. The charcoal blackness of the trees greatly contrast the surrounding vibrant and healthy green. Even this high up, one could see the rot and spoil of the cursed area of land. “Voidsblood has rained upon this region to, ey?” A fellow traveler mumbled to himself, and what was once a cheery grin under a bristly beard turned into a somber grimace. “What is Voidsblood?” A young girl asks, leaning into her mother as she holds her father’s hand. The bearded man turns his attention to the girl and takes a moment to choose his words. “Monsters, dark and vicious,” he begins. “They come from another world and stalk the night, waiting for bad little boys and bad little girls to disobey their parents. If the bad little boy or bad little girl decides to wander off on their own, they snatch ‘em up! And eat ‘em!” The little girl gasps in alarm and begins to hide behind her mother’s skirts. “That’s enough, Imory.” another man, presumably the girl’s father warns, warranting the bearded man to return his gaze back to the blackened land. “But, if you listen to your parents and be a good girl, the Cerulean Order will protect you.” “The Cerulean Order…? What’s that?” The little girl hesitantly asks, peeking out from behind the skirts. Imory grins a little, expression lightening as he looks back at the girl. “The Cerulean Order is a special group of people that live right up there.” He points up to one of the floating platforms. “They protect everyone in the city from the monsters.” “How???” The girl asks curiously, now revealing her face from behind the skits. “They’re special. They are very strong and can use magic in ways you can only imagine.” Imory said, using his hands for emphasis of his words. “Then how come the Voidsblood is still over there?” a good question indeed, from the little girl. Imory smiles almost sadly. “Voidsblood appears randomly. They never know when it will show up. But the Cerulean Order leaves the city to take care of them before the Voidlings can leave the area.” “Voidlings?” “What they call the monsters in the Voidsblood.” “Oh. Then are they going there right now?” Imory began to reach into his cloak as someone made a loud whistle from around the aerial tram. As the little girl looks around to see what was happening, she could see several people gliding from various platforms, all of which were wearing a similar styled uniform under capes and cloaks. “Captain!” Calls a man from one of the gliders. It almost looks as if the man has mosaic wings, colored in all shades of blues and purples. “We’re making way!” “Aye! Continue course!” Imory calls back, then turns his attention back to the little girl. “Here, have this.” In his hand is a little badge, a series of blues and golds in color, ornate with a design of a crest. “The symbol of the Cerulean Order.” With that, Imory reaches for a tall beam of wood that he brought with him. After shaking it, it reveals the very same blues and purples that the other man’s glider had. Again the girl gasps, but this time in amazement as Imory reaches up and pulls himself up over the railing of the tram. Shaking the glider open, he steps off of the railing. Everyone in the tram rushes to the edges to see him fall, only to find that wind has caught Captain Imory Streiss and carries him off toward the dozens of other Cerulean members littering the sky.
What is this RP about? In this High Fantasy world, there are these mysterious beasts that have been wreaking havoc on cities and towns. Several governing bodies have acknowledged them as a serious threat, and have created various kinds of defenses against them. In the great floating city of Pathia, they have The Cerulean Order. You play a member of The Cerulean Order. As a member, you must fight the monsters when they appear, and find more information about where they come from and most effective ways to rid of them. Where will the RP take place? What's the setting? The rp will take place mostly in the Kingdom of Prosea Yst (PRO-say-uh EAST), and more specifically in Pathia the floating city. Surrounding areas are open as well since a lot of combat may be happening in those areas. The setting is, again, High Fantasy. Arcane magic is used like electricity and fuel so while they are nothing near 21st century tech, they do have some advancements. Think something vaguely similar to Piltover in Arcane. If you'd like more detailed explanation or other examples, feel free to ask. How is combat going to operate? I will be using a mixture of narrative/plotting and dice. There will be a stat system, where each player can allot a certain amount of points into various status to allow their character to have special bonuses to their rolls. Smaller weaker enemies will be handled by plotting and writing, while bigger boss battles that have higher stakes will result in dice rolls. Is the focus of the rp more on combat or the characters? This rp is going to be 70/40 character development/combat. A lot of these characters can be new to The Cerulean Order and will have to go through training and team building. Members of TCE are put into teams that must be able to work together both on and off the field. Members can come from all walks of life and that can cause some interesting character dynamics.
If you have any questions, please ask! For now, this is only a vague idea and I'm looking to see who is interested and if anyone would like to add onto what I have so far. Looking for 6-8 players. Multiple characters may be an option.
