It made sense too, back then he was beloved by almost everyone, and had an almost (but not quite) unreasonable amount of sex with a variety of members of the Egyptian pantheon. The job he took the most pride in then - and to some extent, still does - was being the longstanding bodyguard and best friend of the Sun God, Ra. For a long time, Set was the sole protector of Ra during his journey to bring the sun back to the deserts of Egypt. The great serpent Apophis did its best to distract and hypnotize Ra and his entourage, and it was Set who resisted its gaze and it was Set who pushed the beast back with a thrust of his great spear.


Even though his life was great, jealousy is a slow and insidious killer. As the second born son to the god of the Earth and the goddess of the Sky, Setekh was close to the throne - but not there. Despite the world being a paradise for everyone, food in abundance, and an almost complete lack of suffering… Set wanted more. The Pharaoh of Egypt controlled all the world and all the sands, and as the days went on Set found himself more and more willing to do whatever it took to take the throne from his older brother. In the most dramatic way possible, he did.

Setekh built a gorgeous casket with his own hands, exactly to his brother Osiris’s measurements. He threw a mighty party, and invited all of the Ennead and their subjects. He revealed the casket to the partygoers, and claimed whoever fit in it could take it home. For hours, he watched as guest after guest attempted to fit into the ornate coffin, and failed. After what felt like an eternity, his older brother lay down in the coffin, laughing and smiling.

And he found the coffin slammed closed on him.

For years afterward, Set ruled the deserts. Under his rule, things went from serene and peaceful to chaotic and dangerous. He commanded the storms and the droughts, sending them upon his subjects - who he found ungrateful and disloyal. The mortals and even his fellow rulers yearned for the days of old when the benevolent pair of Osiris and Isis ruled the lands.

When Set had all but forgotten his older brother and his wife, their son Horus made his presence known. For over eight decades, Setekh and Horus had many epic battles. After all that time passed, Horus finally succeeded in overthrowing his uncle and taking the throne for himself. Set was banished.

There, he watched with disgust and rage as the mortals still prayed to him. They prayed to him for protection from the invaders, the storms, the drought… they prayed [i]to[/i] Set for protection [i]from[/i] Set. And this drove him insane.

In his mad rage, invasions of Egypt became frequent, violent, and destructive. Storms raged across the desert, and droughts were common. And Setekh watched this all with a small smile. The filthy mongrels deserved it.[/sup][/color][/indent][/hider][/center]

Now put in an odd spot between the two, Set chose to wander the world to find his purpose. He became a well-learned and traveled man. He learned different mortal languages, he learned what they were like, and most importantly he learned that one important detail hadn’t changed from when he was in power: they were so easily manipulated.

Nearly thirty years ago, Set formed the Ennead Corporation in America. He knew what he had to do to regain his former glory and power, so that he could return to punishing the world for what he felt were transgressions against him. Put simply, Set no longer wanted to be nice to people who had what he felt belonged to him. He built the company with the idea that he could manipulate people en masse under the guise of ‘self-help,’ and ‘self-actualization.’ He succeeded in his goal, and has changed thousands of people’s lives - the biggest question is whether he’s changed them for better or for worse.

Using money he’d made over his long, extensive life, Set’s current identity of Seth Stanford first made a name for himself as an author. After the books he published himself through Ennead began to catch on, he started to do seminars and conferences to push the message. It was only in the last few years that Ennead began to do their festivals on their private campuses - islands, in international waters. Some people aren’t happy about the corporation, but those voices are quiet and ignored by Seth.

Quite recently, the last year or so, he’s stepped down from his role as the CEO of Ennead, choosing to remain on the board. Leaving the company in the hands of his most trusted lieutenants, he told the people that he simply wished to be closer to them, and opened a private practice in Seattle where he could pose as a psychologist. The truth is, he just missed how intimate it used to be to manipulate them personally.[/sup][/color][/indent][/hider][/center]
