He loves all things pop-culture, nerdy, and geeky. He’s got an aptitude for most school subjects- or used to, anyway. Real world responsibilities like homework and learning to be his father’s successor don’t really interest him anymore. He’d rather play D&D or play video games. Despite spending a lot of his time online, Toby very much lives in a bubble. All he’s learned from using the internet since before he could barely talk were creative ways to say swear words. The injustices of day-to-day life that the working-class face seem like something out of a fantasy story to him. Really, there’s no way it’s THAT bad, right? And everyone totally owns a vacation home, too. He doesn’t understand just how lucky he is to be a netter, as all the rest of his buddies are also spoiled rich kids. Toby isn’t a bully about his wealth, just lacking in self-awareness. He genuinely means no harm to people, even if he does accidentally drop and f-bomb in front of adults and plays stupid practical jokes. He’s a kid. He wants to have fun. In this fast-paced society, he doesn’t seem eager to grow up.

A R M O R & W E A P O N R Y

Toby’s most dangerous weapons are in the NERF gun collection he keeps hung up on his wall. He owns a custom-made, historically accurate set of plate armor made for a Comic-Con two years ago. It is now collecting dust in a display case. Dentures. It’s not very impressive but seeing that Toby is a twelve-year-old with cleidocranial dysplasia, he’s missing a few of his front teeth. It’s a complete secret that he uses them (well, it’s supposed to be anyway. Sometimes he terrorizes his close friends by chasing them with his teeth). He will receive permanent implants when he’s sixteen if his incisors don’t come in. He’s had several successful surgeries to fix his smile. Collarbone Implants. Due to his condition, Toby’s collarbones are vestigial, but he’s been outfitted with a brand-new set of them to fix his sloping shoulders about a year ago. While his posture is normal now, he’s a little sad he can't fold his shoulders inwards anymore. It was funny.

S K I L L S

Art, storytelling, teamwork, robotics, planning. These are skills Toby has cultivated through his interests. Dungeons & Dragons sparked his love for drawing, writing, and group-coordination. He’s become quite the aspiring Dungeon Master. He’s pretty good at what he does- for a twelve-year-old, at least. Robotics is his newer interest, but it serves him well in this tech-centered society. Tech problems? Ask him. Maybe. He can’t really hack so much as he can tell robots what to do. Of course, Toby is very methodical. Being a DM and a programmer, planning is the name of the game.

R E L A T I O N S

Parents Edward D’alessio Edward D’alessio is a 40-year-old man and Toby’s biological father. He's a very important executive and shareholder for Microzon. As a very down-to-Earth and no-bullshit guy, he has trouble connecting with his son on a personal level. Despite living with his father, Toby is rather distant from his dad. Edward buys his son whatever he wants to keep him happy, as he’s not really that much for parenting. Toby feels the only thing his dad cares about is him learning how to become a good businessman. Martha Olsen Martha Olsen is 36 years old and is Toby’s biological mother. She divorced Edward when Toby was barely five after catching him in an affair. Their son doesn’t know of this. She is remarried to a man named Patrick that Toby rarely ever sees. In fact, he rarely sees Martha because she moved to New York and got involved with politics. Toby usually visits her during the holidays but resents having to travel away from his friends. Friends Noah Fraiser A fellow 7th grader and massive nerd, the two have known each other since they were three. Toby has other buddies, but Noah is his best bud. His right-hand man. His partner in crime. The two play D&D together weekly with the rest of his friend group. When they’re not together in-person, they’re usually gaming or chatting about God knows what. Noah wants to become a famous movie director when he grows up. Sometimes they make short films together. Nelson Yu Nelson is the newest of the group, but he’s been welcomed with open arms. He was indoctrinated into playing D&D by Toby and Co. shortly after showing up. He’s still learning but is having fun. Nelson likes to make music in his free time and tends to rattle on about classic film soundtracks. He’s even scored a few of Noah’s projects. He’s also the one that suggested the gang try and design a videogame together just for the hell of it. Marylin Waters Tall and a jock, she’s the least nerdy of them all. Sometimes still plays D&D (she’s quite the murderhobo), but her true passion is baseball. Toby doesn’t know jackshit about sports, but sometimes shows up to her games anyway to grab ice cream or go to Joystix. Marylin is the designated “cool” one. Noah, Nelson, and Toby are prime targets for bullying, so she chases off hecklers with baseball bats. Dr. Peterson Dr. “Doc” Peterson is the closest thing Toby has to a present father-figure. Doc runs the robotics club at Toby’s private school. He encourages kids to stay engaged and learn in the classroom (or tries to, at least). Toby’s only been in the club for the year, but he loves it there. He tends to hang out after school to work on some weird project, or design something to put on his Cybercom.

H I S T O R Y

Even the rich have a pecking order, and Toby’s learned he isn’t very high ranking in it. He’s always been that kid, the one with a lisp that’s the teacher’s pet. Most of his peers didn’t appreciate that. Most of his experiences with social ostracisation were in his elementary years. Sure, people still don’t hang out with him much, but he has his friend group nowadays. His schedule is relatively consistent: school, club, homework (sometimes), D&D/videogames/whatever else children do, and repeat. Recently, his father has been trying to step in more to guide Toby into learning to be a businessman. He was met with nothing but opposition. Maybe it’s angst, or maybe he doesn’t like his father, but Toby’s been trying to avoid him altogether so he can continue to hang out with his friends. He barely even does his homework before, even though he used to be one of the top students in his class. He’s rapidly approaching the identity crisis brought by naturally growing up (and hates it).

C Y B E R C O M

King Talgorthus the Great is a 6’5 dragon-like humanoid that wears a set of heavy-looking armor. His “scales” are a glistening gold color, and sometimes he wears a red cape. Talgorthus is still very much a robot. The striking appearance is due to the fact that he is themed off of Toby’s very own Dungeons & Dragons character, a gold dragonborn fighter. Tal is big and scary for a reason, as he serves as Toby’s bodyguard. He’s equipped with combat and first-aid capabilities- and also a flamethrower in his mouth. He takes better care of Toby than his own father sometimes. Tal has an intimidating voice that's deep and gravelly, although he doesn't speak much. He refers to Toby as "Sir Tobias" (and Toby calls him "King Tal"). Tal is by the young man's side at every waking moment, and even has special programming to scan the faces of passerby to check for criminal history. Aside from being protective, he's very much a butler and seeks to fulfill any and every request given to him.
