[@mattmanganon] Conner's the one with the trident, but yes (new as the game begins) and no. (hasn't done anything with his keyblade)
He had magic before leaving his world and has already been in combat against monsters before, but he's not particularly experienced and has not fought any heartless. He also has not met his D-link yet, and I was planning on delaying that for quite a while considering their whereabouts at the end of Bravely Default. (Though I could always change it to Kuzco or something if meeting D-links early is mandatory)

I thought this was all self-evident from their history.
