Realizing how expensive it would be to have all of her clothes tailored exactly to her taste, she took up sewing to do it herself. When she is feeling more fashionable, Iris is often wearing designer brands and does a few sponsorships for their company. When she is doing a televised Pokemon battle, she will often wear a coat that belongs to the highest paying sponsor, but only if it matches the aesthetic she is going for. Personality: It is rumored by the children around her gym that Iris Gattonsvale is secretly not what meets the eye. How can a human being get along with ghosts so well? How can someone not be afraid of them when they're mean and scary? How could someone like her be so friendly and yet so creepy at the same time? Well, the reason for that is because she is a ghost herself, of course! Anyone with a brain would find these rumors ridiculous, of course, but for the fun of it, Iris has put it upon herself to learn all about the history of Galar. Not just because she finds the background of her region so fascinating, but because she likes to learn more to "accidentally" mention these little tidbits of information and present it as if she had really been there. Iris thinks that the look on the children's and any adult who believes the rumor's faces are priceless. Iris, actually, is a very kind, polite, and stubborn young woman that likes to try new things. She holds a motherly love for all Pokemon, but Ghost types in particular hold a very special place. She enjoys being scared, and after being victim to every illusion and trick in the book, she's become rather immune to most mischievous deeds. Which is upsetting to her because how can she get that little jump scare she loves if they don't affect her anymore? She will always respect others as much as they respect her, and thinks highly of those who've worked hard to get to where they are today. However, Iris does have a mischievous side of her own, and her patience can wear thin when it comes to other people much faster than with Pokemon. So, if she's at her limit with someone, she might "accidentally" lose track of one of her Pokemon and let them harass/torment the person in question. Aside from Ghost Pokemon and Urban Legends, Iris has a love for creating scrapbooks of the times she's spent with trainers and her Pokemon. The Pokemon that don't show up in pictures, she ends up recreating the image by drawing it herself with them included. This has built her skill in art considerably. She also enjoys singing from time to time. Short Biography: In the quieter, more secluded parts of Wedgehurst is where Iris Gattonsvale spent her childhood. Being so close to the forest with not many children for her to interact with, Iris had become rather shy. Born to a researcher father and an ex-Pokemon trainer mother, Iris was bound to be exposed to all sorts of Pokemon throughout her life. To nourish their daughter's curiosity, her parents had even gifted her a book about the various types that lived within Galar, which she adored and learned about a mysterious dark horse Pokemon she dreams of seeing in person. Fire, water, steel, flying; Iris got to meet them all when she visited her father in the research lab, and her mother would often tell her tales about her adventures when she was still traveling around the region. Meeting the Pokemon in person and reading about them inspired Iris to become a trainer herself. However, to her parents' surprise, she wasn't interested in training more common, kinder Pokemon. Instead, she was determined to hunt for Ghost types. When asked about it, she responded that "they seemed really shy" and she "wanted to be their friend." Having heard the horror stories of Ghost types, her parents forbade it and tried to gently redirect her to literally anything else. Iris had liked cute and colorful things as a child, so they tried to redirect her to Fairy types in particular, but Iris didn't budge. Thinking (or at least hoping) it was just a phase, her father volunteered to go with her to find a Ghost Pokemon. Before they left though, he insisted that she pick a starter just in case they ran into battle. It would also give her first hand experience of what battling was like. Upon being presented her options, Iris asked which one would have a Ghost form. After (begrudgingly) receiving her answer, she chose Rowlet. The ghost hunting went far differently than her father had anticipated. Each time he or Iris became victim to the ghostly mischief, Iris would become scared, but she never cried or screamed or tried to run away. Instead, she'd put on a shaking smile and say hello to the ghosts in hopes of befriending them. Of course, these attempts wouldn't work and resulted in battle after battle. But Iris, being as stubborn as she was, puffed her cheeks and swore she'd become friends with these Pokemon, and she was more than happy to take Rowlet on her journey to do it. Her parents tried to talk her out of it, but it was no use. In the end, when she'd become old enough and her goal unchanged, they decided to just let her go and maybe she would return a little more mature and her ghost dreams behind her. And so, with Rowlet by her side, Iris began traveling the region as a Pokemon trainer and self proclaimed Ghost hunter. She'd travel the territories over the years, gradually battling and capturing Ghost types that she'd come across, then befriending those Ghosts to battle against other trainers' Pokemon. Iris adored it, and her starter, who she named "Darling", seemed to enjoy her company. As she grew, traveled, and her knowledge expanded, Iris began to grow fonder and fonder of her ghostly Pokemon despite the mischief and torture they'd put her through. She'd come out of her shy shell and her determination to keep going had only become stronger. She would slowly build a collection of this Pokemon type, getting better and better at befriending them with more knowledge about the Ghosts' characteristics. Through much trial and error, Iris was starting to get the hang of taking care of her companions. To her, these Pokemon weren't all that scary, just misunderstood. They could be kind if they wanted to, and many, especially Mimikyu, just needed a compassionate hand. By the time she was 21, her work of befriending Ghost type Pokemon for more than just fighting had spread, but not specifically her reason why; only that she "just wanted to be their friend." It left young trainers to speculate that she got along well with them because she was a Ghost Pokemon herself, or that she was simply just a creep looking for companionship of other creeps. Though being called creepy hurt at first, Iris eventually grew to ignore it. Some had even begun calling her "the Ghostmother," due to her work and how much she babied her Pokemon. As her team grew stronger and Iris gradually earned badge after badge, she realized that her Pokemon were not so fond of constantly moving from place to place. Most of them had been haunting one area for many many years, and only knew how to do just that. It would be unfair if she kept forcing them to continue adapting to all sorts of new environments for her sake. So she eventually decided to settle in one location, where she'd fight for then be offered a place as leader of a Major League Gym. Iris accepted and has been happily living and raising her companions for the last couple of years now. She is also enjoying the fruits of her labor through clothes she's made (using expensive fabrics) and items she spoils her Pokemon with.
