Kenzan honestly barely remembered what most of his teachers had said over the course of the day. He didn’t really feel the need to pay attention though. All he needed to do was make sure he understood the homework and he would be fine on the upcoming exams. It wasn’t like he’d ever had problems before despite his lack of active studying. As the final bell rang, he packed up his stuff to head either home or to the bookstore. He weaved through the various people who were heading to clubs or other after school activities. He mindlessly scrolled through the music on his phone as he put his headphones in and decided that he would go to the bookstore for at least a couple hours so he could get work done in peace. He, shockingly, hadn't gotten any pestering texts from his mother so he felt in the clear for the moment at least. And he did get work done, a fair amount of it actually in between scrolling through social media and playing games on his computer. He ended up staying for longer than just a couple hours, but he doubted that Kudo cared at this point. He was there often enough he was just a constant fixture at the table at this point. It was getting into early evening by the time he left, but despite seeing the dead body with that bunch of second years he didn’t feel any fear. Though his head did snap upright when he heard noise through the music. “Hey! Can you grab her!” He stopped in confusion at the sight in front of him. A white cat loping towards him with someone he vaguely recognized in passing from school chasing after her. A second year if he remembered correctly, in a different class to the crowd he’d stumbled across. The cat had already slowed down at the sight of him and padded up with an insistent meow before rolling over onto his shoes. He stared down at the curious blue eyes that peered expectantly up at him. He crouched down to pet her, and loop a finger through her collar, as the guy caught up to him. “Thanks, she slipped out when I opened the door,” he bent down to scoop the cat into his arms, “You should know better than that Meeko.” He made eye contact with Kenzan, “Oh, hey, you go to school with me. Sakai Kenzan right?” How this guy knew his name he had no idea but he nodded, “You’re welcome and, yeah, that’s me.” The other student grinned, “Great, well, see you at school then!” He turned on his heel to jog back the way he came. Not the weirdest encounter he’d had recently, but it was definitely up there. He just shrugged his shoulders and turned his music back on so that he could get the rest of the way home. Hopefully without any more weird encounters.
