Realizing how expensive it would be to have all of her clothes tailored exactly to her taste, she took up sewing to do it herself. When she is feeling more fashionable, Iris is often wearing designer brands and does a few sponsorships for their company. When she is doing a televised Pokemon battle, she will often wear a coat that belongs to the highest paying sponsor, but only if it matches the aesthetic she is going for. Personality: It is rumored by the children around her gym that Iris Gattonsvale is secretly not what meets the eye. How can a human being get along with ghosts so well? How can someone not be afraid of them when they're mean and scary? How could someone like her be so friendly and yet so creepy at the same time? Well, the reason for that is because she is a ghost herself, of course! Anyone with a brain would find these rumors ridiculous, of course, but for the fun of it, Iris has put it upon herself to learn all about the history of Galar. Not just because she finds the background of her region so fascinating, but because she likes to learn more to "accidentally" mention these little tidbits of information and present it as if she had really been there. Iris thinks that the look on the children's and any adult who believes the rumor's faces are priceless. Iris, actually, is a very kind, polite, and stubborn young woman that likes to try new things. She holds a motherly love for all Pokemon, but Ghost types in particular hold a very special place. She enjoys being scared, and after being victim to every illusion and trick in the book, she's become rather immune to most mischievous deeds. Which is upsetting to her because how can she get that little jump scare she loves if they don't affect her anymore? She will always respect others as much as they respect her, and thinks highly of those who've worked hard to get to where they are today. However, Iris does have a mischievous side of her own, and her patience can wear thin when it comes to other people much faster than with Pokemon. So, if she's at her limit with someone, she might "accidentally" lose track of one of her Pokemon and let them harass/torment the person in question. Aside from Ghost Pokemon and Urban Legends, Iris has a love for creating scrapbooks of the times she's spent with trainers and her Pokemon. The Pokemon that don't show up in pictures, she ends up recreating the image by drawing it herself with them included. This has built her skill in art considerably. She also enjoys singing from time to time. Short Biography: In the quieter, more secluded parts of Wedgehurst is where Iris Gattonsvale spent her childhood. Being so close to the forest with not many children for her to interact with, Iris had become rather shy. Born to a researcher father and an ex-Pokemon trainer mother, Iris was bound to be exposed to all sorts of Pokemon throughout her life. To nourish their daughter's curiosity, her parents had even gifted her a book about the various types that lived within Galar, which she adored and learned about a mysterious dark horse Pokemon she dreams of seeing in person. Fire, water, steel, flying; Iris got to meet them all when she visited her father in the research lab, and her mother would often tell her tales about her adventures when she was still traveling around the region. Meeting the Pokemon in person and reading about them inspired Iris to become a trainer herself. However, to her parents' surprise, she wasn't interested in training more common, kinder Pokemon. Instead, she was determined to hunt for Ghost types. When asked about it, she responded that "they seemed really shy" and she "wanted to be their friend." Having heard the horror stories of Ghost types, her parents forbade it and tried to gently redirect her to literally anything else. Iris had liked cute and colorful things as a child, so they tried to redirect her to Fairy types in particular, but Iris didn't budge. Thinking (or at least hoping) it was just a phase, her father volunteered to go with her to find a Ghost Pokemon. Before they left though, he insisted that she pick a starter just in case they ran into battle. It would also give her first hand experience of what battling was like. Upon being presented her options, Iris asked which one would have a Ghost form. After (begrudgingly) receiving her answer, she chose Rowlet. The ghost hunting went far differently than her father had anticipated. Each time he or Iris became victim to the ghostly mischief, Iris would become scared, but she never cried or screamed or tried to run away. Instead, she'd put on a shaking smile and say hello to the ghosts in hopes of befriending them. Of course, these attempts wouldn't work and resulted in battle after battle. But Iris, being as stubborn as she was, puffed her cheeks and swore she'd become friends with these Pokemon, and she was more than happy to take Rowlet on her journey to do it. Her parents tried to talk her out of it, but it was no use. In the end, when she'd become old enough and her goal unchanged, they decided to just let her go and maybe she would return a little more mature and her ghost dreams behind her. And so, with Rowlet by her side, Iris began traveling the region as a Pokemon trainer and self proclaimed Ghost hunter. She'd travel the territories over the years, gradually battling and capturing Ghost types that she'd come across, then befriending those Ghosts to battle against other trainers' Pokemon. Iris adored it, and her starter, who she named "Darling", seemed to enjoy her company. As she grew, traveled, and her knowledge expanded, Iris began to grow fonder and fonder of her ghostly Pokemon despite the mischief and torture they'd put her through. She'd come out of her shy shell and her determination to keep going had only become stronger. She would slowly build a collection of this Pokemon type, getting better and better at befriending them with more knowledge about the Ghosts' characteristics. Through much trial and error, Iris was starting to get the hang of taking care of her companions. To her, these Pokemon weren't all that scary, just misunderstood. They could be kind if they wanted to, and many, especially Mimikyu, just needed a compassionate hand. By the time she was 21, her work of befriending Ghost type Pokemon for more than just fighting had spread, but not specifically her reason why; only that she "just wanted to be their friend." It left young trainers to speculate that she got along well with them because she was a Ghost Pokemon herself, or that she was simply just a creep looking for companionship of other creeps. Though being called creepy hurt at first, Iris eventually grew to ignore it. Some had even begun calling her "the Ghostmother," due to her work and how much she babied her Pokemon. As her team grew stronger and Iris gradually earned badge after badge, she realized that her Pokemon were not so fond of constantly moving from place to place. Most of them had been haunting one area for many many years, and only knew how to do just that. It would be unfair if she kept forcing them to continue adapting to all sorts of new environments for her sake. So she eventually decided to settle in one location, where she'd fight for then be offered a place as leader of a Major League Gym. Iris accepted and has been happily living and raising her companions for the last couple of years now. She is also enjoying the fruits of her labor through clothes she's made (using expensive fabrics) and items she spoils her Pokemon with. There will be no other trainers here. In their place, Iris brings Ghost Pokemon from her own collection to come and battle. They will group in teams of 2 or three, and will switch out when one of their teammates is knocked out. Which Pokemon the challenger gets to fight is up to chance. Enjoying a bit of gambling, she decided to keep the egg and raise it until it hatched. Maybe it would have a ghost form? Or perhaps she could keep the little Pokemon and trade with another trainer for their Ghost type. Out of sheer luck, the egg hatched a Shuppet, who Iris would nickname "Shuppie". Now, Shuppet gets to be on the League team until he gets too strong then will eventually be switched out with another baby. [Pokemon #2]: [SWEETHEART | ♀] Pokemon: Misdreavous Type: Ghost Nature: Modest Ability: Levitate A pretty magical Pokemon that Iris, admittedly, likes to draw the most. Of course she'd never say this out loud for fear that her other Ghosts get jealous. Her Mismagius might be her most mischievous of her Pokemon and loves to pull pranks on her. Lately, Iris has gotten better at spotting them before it happens. [Pokemon #3]: [LOVELY | N/A] Pokemon: Polteageist Type: Ghost Nature: Modest Ability: Weak Armor A lovely little teapot Pokemon that came with Sinistea after a woman was scammed into believing it was an antique tea set. The woman in question surrendered the Pokemon to Iris's care since she did not feel confident enough to raise them. ...

[Pokemon #1]: [BABY | ♀] Pokemon: Dusclops Type: Ghost Nature: Impish Ability: Pressure A Pokemon smaller and stubbier than Cutie. Baby is the reason Iris has trouble finding a lot of things in her home, such as forks, spoons, and important belongings. She's had to stop Baby from trying to absorb other Pokemon, but thankfully, solitary confinement was enough to make Baby learn her lesson. Doesn't mean Iris won't let Baby absorb her enemy's belongings. [Pokemon #2]: [SMUGGLES | ♀] Pokemon: Dragapult Type: Dragon/Ghost Nature: Jolly Ability: Infiltrator Smuggles, appropriately named due to how smug she looks, is one of Iris's quietest, most docile Pokemon. Considering her current living situation, a Pokemon like Smuggles is a huge blessing. Sometimes Iris has to set a reminder to check on Smuggles or else the Pokemon will randomly appear when she needs something. [Pokemon #3]: [PRECIOUS | ♂] Pokemon: Mimikyu Type: Ghost/Fairy Nature: Jolly Ability: Disguise Iris's shoulder passenger. Mimikyu is (mostly) well behaved. Has the same appearance as every other Mimikyu except she gave him a little red bow tie for his costume. Iris made the bow tie herself to make her little comrade even cuter than normal. Prone to jealousy. [Pokémon #4]: [SNOOKUMS | N/A] Pokémon: Golurk Type: Ground/Ghost Nature: Adamant Ability: Iron Fist Iris's tallest and largest Pokémon. He is missing a chip off his shoulder due to an incident during training while he was just a small Golett. Snookums is doing just fine, though Iris has not emotionally recovered from her baby being hurt. [Pokémon #5]: [DARLING | ♂| Pokemon: Decidueye Type: Grass/Ghost Nature: Adamant Ability: Overgrow A taller than normal Decidueye. Iris's starter all grown up. This Pokemon looks like your typical Decidueye, and though he's usually in the back of the crowd, he's adopted the role of older brother to all of Iris's Ghost Pokemon. He is easy to choose from a flock of Decidueye due to his thousand yard stare. [Pokemon #6 (ACE)]: [CUTIE | ♂] Pokemon: Gengar (Gigantamax) Type: Ghost/Poison Nature: Modest Ability: Cursed Body Of the two Gengars Iris has, this one is a bolder shade of purple to his counterpart's darker shade. He has red eyes and a wide, Cheshire cat smile. He is also a bit chunkier than normal Gengars but Iris thinks it makes him cuter. This Gengar is the first reason Iris doesn't trust any voices she hears in the middle of the night, and Iris makes damn sure her guests know to do the same. Iris received both Cutie and Patootie from a breeder who quickly realized how awful Ghost types can be and he didn't want to deal with them anymore. She happily accepted them.

[Pokemon #1]: [SHMOOPIE | ♀] Pokemon: Chandelure Type: Ghost/Fire Nature: Modest Ability: Flash Fire One of the Pokemon that loves to hang around the ceiling. When Iris has company over, she needs to always warn them about the little one that likes to hang over the table. Shmoopie gets along well with its other companions usually, but prefers to be alone. [Pokemon #2]: [PATOOTIE | ♀] Pokemon: Gengar (Dynamax) Type: Ghost/Poison Nature: Timid Ability: Cursed Body The darker colored of Iris's Gengars and also the most "playful" to put it kindly. This one is the second reason Iris can't trust the voices she hears in the middle of the night. Iris received both Cutie and Patootie from a breeder who quickly realized how awful Ghost types can be and he didn't want to deal with them anymore. She happily accepted them and has given them a loving home ever since. ...

[Pokemon #1]: [DRIFFY | ♀] Pokemon: Drifloon Type: Ghost/Flying Nature: Modest Ability: Aftermath One of the few Pokemon that approached Iris instead of the other way around. The poor thing had gotten lost from its group so long ago and was wandering aimlessly. Iris took her in and gave her a home with the rest of her Ghosts. [Pokemon #2]: [TINY | N/A] Pokemon: Sinistea Type: Ghost Nature: Modest Ability: Weak Armor A Pokemon that Iris found while looking through a nice woman's collection. She apparently purchased what she thought to be an antique tea set but turned out to be a Pokemon. Since the woman wasn't a trainer nor did she feel qualified to care for Ghosts, much less Pokemon in general, she decided to surrender Sinistea to her. [Pokemon #3]: [ROM-ROM | N/A] Pokemon: Rotom Type: Electric/Ghost Nature: Adamant Ability: Levitate Iris was called to a house of an elderly couple in Wedgehurst who asked her to "exorcise" the ghost fiend from their toaster. Though it took many frustrating hours and bouncing around from electronic to electronic, Iris was able to calm the Rotom just enough for her to capture it. Now, Rom-Rom has fun spooking new challengers and fighting them whenever it wants to get some exercise. [Pokemon #4]: [SLEEPIES | N/A] Pokemon: Shedinja Type: Bug/Ghost Nature: Timid Ability: Wonder Guard Very rarely will one of the challengers in Iris's tower see Sleepies floating around, if at all, since Sleepies doesn't really like people. Iris figured putting Sleepies in her gym would let it open up to the trainers at the pace that it was comfortable with... Though if a trainer happened to get stuck in a fight with Sleepies, then Iris hoped the trainer didn't pick a grass or water starter. [Pokemon #5]: [SPOOKY | ♂] Pokemon: Phantump Type: Ghost/Grass Nature: Mild Ability: Natural Cure A little Phantump that hopes to one day become a big Trevenant. Of course, it doesn't know that it needs to be traded for that to happen, but Iris wants to make sure that the trainer she trades her precious Pokemon to is worth Spooky's time and effort. Or, perhaps she's waiting for someone to trade with her who would equally benefit. [Pokemon #6]: [DUCKY | N/A] Pokemon: Dhelmise Type: Ghost/Grass Nature: Brave Ability: Steelworker Ducky is the reason Iris is not allowed to bring them anywhere near the shore where the fishermen and women hang out. Ducky looks menacing, but they prefer to wander on their own around the gym. If a challenger picks a fight, they would be more than happy to make mom proud. [Pokemon #7]: [WICK | ♂] Pokemon: Litwick Type: Ghost/Fire Nature: Calm Ability: Flame Body Unlike Shmoopie, Wick likes to hang around windows and wall decorations. Of all the Pokemon within Iris's gym, this one is the one that gets overlooked the most, and thus, ends up fighting the most. [Pokemon #8]: [SHINY | ♂] Pokemon: Sableeye Type: Dark/Ghost Nature: Docile Ability: Keen Eye A Pokemon that Iris had to travel with a Ground trainer to catch. She'd brought a red gemstone with her as bait and successfully managed to catch the Sableeye. Of course, she fed him the gemstone as a welcome gift. [Pokemon #9]: [PUMPKIE | ♀] Pokemon: Pumpkaboo Type: Ghost/Grass Nature: Relaxed Ability: Pickup This Pokemon managed to find its way into Iris's house and has stuck with her ever since. Iris still isn't sure how Pumpkie managed to get into her house, but at this point, she doesn't really care anymore. [Pokemon #10]: [BEAU | ♂] Pokemon: Duskull Type: Ghost Nature: Bashful Ability: Levitate This Pokemon managed to find its way into Iris's house and has stuck with her ever since. Iris still isn't sure how Pumpkie managed to get into her house, but at this point, she doesn't really care anymore. [Pokemon #11]: [MISSY | ♀] Pokemon: Misdreavus Type: Ghost Nature: Lonely Ability: Levitate Missy was traded to Iris in exchange for a water Pokemon that she had stumbled upon. The other trainer seemed much too eager to get rid of the cute Pokemon for some red fish. Iris never understood why until later. [Pokemon #12]: [CURLY | ♂] Pokemon: Corsola Type: Ghost Nature: Serious Ability: Weak Armor A Pokemon given to her by a fisherman who was incredibly disappointed to not have captured any fish. He had already dragged Corsola onto dry land and he didn't want to make the long walk back to the sea to release it, so he decided to bring it to "ghost mom" instead. Iris accepted the generous donation and has had Corsola running around her gym since then.
These Pokemon wander Iris's gym, but they've been instructed to not fight. Instead, they help with spooking the challengers and giving pointers to the baby Pokemon in battle. If a trainer runs into one, they will try to flee. If they can't, then they will fight. [Pokemon #1]: [OATHKEEPER | ♀] Pokemon: Aegislash Type: Steel/Ghost Nature: Modest Ability: Stance Change This Pokemon was given to Iris by a retiring trainer named Olive. Iris was asked if she could take the Aegislash into her care, as there were no other trainers out there that would give her Aegislash the life she deserved. Of course, being the Ghostmother that she was, Iris accepted and has loved Oathkeeper like her own. This Pokemon does not fight, but rather, likes to observe the new challengers and reminisce its past with Olive. Oathkeeper's original trainer comes around to visit from time to time. [Pokemon #2]: [SNOW | ♀] Pokemon: Froslass Type: Ice/Ghost Nature: Adamant Ability: Snow Cloak Another Pokemon that was brought to her by a retired trainer named Anthony. Snow likes a fight, but she seems more than ready to take it easy now that her main team days are over. She is particularly fond of handsome men and it will become quite obvious when she is interested in becoming friendly with one.
...

RELATIONS
N/A
