[indent]Cai is a free-spirited and charming young man who hates feeling trapped by the expectations of others. As a fun-loving athlete who laughs easily and enjoys the company of others, his handsome looks and loveable personality make him popular with others. His body courses with an electric vitality, vibrant and alive, ALMOST always willing to try anything once, twice if he liked it. He's a crazy overachiever but doesn't judge others or hold them to the same standard that he holds to himself. Cai is very open-minded, the live and let live type. But because he can often be so singularly focused on his own experiences and feelings, he sometimes doesn't pick up on other people's feelings unless they bring it up to him directly. He doesn't like to stick his nose where he's not invited (and he expects the same in return).

Nonetheless, he's kind of got an older brother vibe to him, confident and brave on the outside, but actually very cute and good-natured on the inside. It is this same big-brother sensibility that makes him rather protective over people, especially those he's come to care for. If you get on his bad side though, or make him frustrated, he can become very cold and distant. Cai is not the type to think things through completely, so if you really piss him off, he'll probably swing first and then think later.

He's a serial romantic who likes dating around with boys and girls with no clear preference. Cute is cute. But Cai does not like commitment and may pull away if he feels someone wants to make things exclusive. Cai doesn't lie though about his intentions and is always upfront. He's a terrible liar anyways and hates when people lie to him. It's hard for him to forgive once he knows you've lied to him. 

He likes to be free in everything he does. It is rare for him to overthink things, stress out, or second guess himself. If he wants something, Cai doesn't often deny himself. He's often just going to go along with his immediate desires, even if others may not approve of it. Despite his seemingly open nature, he is actually very secretive when it comes to his internal problems. He is known to hide his true feelings, often saying a lot without revealing much at all, which generally ends up bursting later on when he can no longer contain his bent-up emotions. Cai gets annoyed when people try to pry into how he's actually feeling. But he's not the best at hiding his emotions, they almost always appear on his face (he's got a terrible poker face).

Still, he's very self-assured and certain about most things. Not overly confident, but solidified in his own self-worth and he often projects encouragement onto others who may be doubting themselves. Despite being really intelligent, his emotional awareness is a bit lacking truthfully. He hates the feeling of being controlled and having his life laid out for him like a book. He wants to experience everything for himself and come to his own conclusions. If your an excessive planner, don't ask him to go on a trip with you. He will decide what to do in the moment. That's the best way to experience life.[/indent]

Cai was often seen as the perfect son growing up: handsome, athletic, friendly, adept in transmutation magic, and well on his way to becoming a Witch (and he made good grades too). He was the student-athlete who everyone in high school voted most likely to succeed the greatest in life. For a while, Cai did everything he was supposed to. For a long time, he stifled himself, conforming to the desires of his father who wanted him "to be this" and "to do that". Being the son of an overachieving businessman was absolutely exhausting. Cai's actions were often tied to his father's reputation and his father couldn't take the chance of letting Cai choose who he wanted to be. He ran track because his father wanted him to. He said he would become a doctor because his father wanted him to. He practiced his magic incessantly because his father wanted him to. 

And after his mother died, his father sent him away to a prestigious university in Berlin, Germany. He didn't want to go, he only went because his father wanted him to. As a form of rebellion, he stopped practicing his magic (much to his father's dismay), grinding his progress to a halt and limiting himself to the alteration magic that he already knew. Before this point, every action he took during his early years was due to his father's influence and control. Without his mother to provide him with a sense of freedom, he had to discover it for himself.

Berlin was that for him, an eye-opening experience. Spending seven years in Berlin, he quit college after his first year, and pursued his true interest, songwriting. Cai spent several years working odd jobs, learning German, and focusing on his songwriting. Eventually, he got lucky, or perhaps someone hit him with a bit of "luck" magic. Eitherway, he was able to sell one his songs and make a name for himself, going on to write multiple hit songs for many German musical artists. 

Cai hated lying. But it was something he did for a long time, lying to his father about university and his fake doctorate pursuits. Eventually, his lies consumed him and he couldn't lie anymore. Putting his career in Berlin on hiatus, he decided to fly back to Tanner to face his father and tell the truth. He doesn't plan to stay long, but who knows what the future holds.
