Born of the strongest giantess the Allfather could find, Váli sprung to adulthood in a single day, and was immediately one of the strongest fighters of the entire Æsir. 

He found and killed Höðr, though Höðr hadn’t meant to be involved with the killing of Baldr. Of course, at the center of the issue was Loki, who had tricked the blind Höðr into being involved. But Váli didn’t care: vengeance was his mission. After that, he hunted down Loki’s son, Narfi, and killed him as well.

Narfi hadn’t participated in the death of Baldur, but Váli hardly cared. His mission was to bring the most brutal vengeance he could. Váli wasn’t going to simply murder the trickster god where he stood, though he certainly could have - easily. No, Váli had grander plans.

He hunted Loki down and when he found him, he beat him into submission, then tied him up with his dead son’s entrails. He wounded him, taunted him, and left him to die. This, of course, would go down as Váli’s greatest (and only) mistake, as the trickster god Loki would go on to be very annoying and ruin many things in life.

As he went through the ages, their feelings of anger, bloodlust, and need for vengeance weighed heavily on him. For a long time, Váli did the only thing he knew how to do: he fought. Throughout the ages, Váli fought for the people who couldn’t fight for themselves. He became something of a protector, if a bit late - Váli was an avenger of the night. He could sense and feel the anguish of people around him, and he really [i]truly[/i] believed he was helping by finding the source of it and freeing its head from its body.

It wasn’t until closer to the present that Váli began to realize he couldn’t handle it. It was tough enough to carry around his own feelings, shouldering the burden of everyone’s anger was exhausting. Around the 1300s, Váli became a soldier. Quietly, he hoped he would fall in battle, but the blood of Odin wasn’t going to fall in something as simple as a [i]mortal war[/i].

Váli fought in wars for years, and years. It felt natural to him. He could kill without remorse and without regard. [i]Everyone[/i] in war craved vengeance, and Váli had a never ending vehicle for the rage forever building up inside of him. It wasn’t until his father stopped him and tried to explain to him that he could be so much more than rage and endless vengeance. Back then, Váli almost laughed in Odin’s face - the Allfather dared tell him he was [i]too[/i] violent, [i]too[/i] vengeful? It was by Odin’s hand that Váli had ended up like this.

It took him a few years of sorting out his feelings before he spoke to his father about the matter again, and agreed. Váli [i]did[/i] need time to find himself, and he found his peace as a man of the land. Over the years, Váli has built a large homestead on a plot of land in rural Oregon. Close enough that it was easy for him to attend the yearly festival, but far enough away he could focus on himself.

He hasn’t fully escaped the grasp that vengeance has on him. How could he? He was born in it, and molded by it. When in Seattle, Váli can’t help but sometimes go on a crusade. The things he feels, hears, and learns practically drive him to madness. Mortals are capable of evils the likes of which would even make Odin blush.

Over the last ten or so years, Váli has turned his homestead into a home for troubled youth, where he works with them to try and help make sure there aren’t anymore people like him in the world - people who are angry, and filled with a drive for vengeance.[/sup][/color][/indent][/hider][/center]
