Outsiders who stumble upon the kingdom are often executed or sold into slavery, though the law prohibits women from being slaves and usually pardons them. The country is estimated to have about one million residents. Governance & Politics: The people of Oasir believe that women are superior to men, the roles of both sexes are completely reversed from the rest of the world. While women run the country, go to work, and learn to fight, men are expected to care for the children and remain “out of sight, out of mind.” The country worships a goddess known as “Delphion” and believes an avatar of her exists amongst the people, a female child born every thirteen years; often with a strange and unpredictable talent for magic and a distinctive birthmark. This young girl is elevated from whatever station she may hold and becomes the Queen of Oasir for precisely thirteen years. The queens cabinet is made up of former queens who often provide the newcomer council and assistance during her reign. Most court cases and disputes are seen by the queen herself, and the castle, alongside its religion, holds so much power that leadership in other sections and areas seems almost unnecessary. Culture & Society: Delphion is the goddess of wild animals and the hunt. A virgin goddess and protector of childbirth. Her avatar within Oasir is said to be granted a plethora of abilities associated with the Goddess and therefore makes the perfect leader. To the people of Oasir this is an indisputable fact, not an opinion or more coincidence as some may see it. With the roles of men and women reversed, an outsider may feel very unwelcome in the Queendom. Marriage does not exist in Oasir, it is an absurd concept they are unaccustomed to. They do not believe in lifelong partnership and therefore have not been very friendly with other nations in the past; due to their outright refusal of any marital alliance. It is considered disrespectful within Oasir for a man to speak or face a woman. In the rare case that a man works, he can be found within the mines or the red light district. Other than that, they are often taking care of the children and are more so indentured servants as opposed to citizens. They are also unable to participate in war. The women of Oasir are strong. Perhaps the most famous event they are known for is something called the “Wild Hunt.” It is no mystery that the land Oasir was built on is home to a series of dangerous beasts and the warrior women within the Queendom have no problem taming or killing. It is customary for every young Oasir woman to pair herself with a “familiar” or a “spirit animal” often a dangerous creature they managed to tame and see a little bit of themselves in. Rumors from other nations have spoken of the women hunting men in the Wild Hunt! But those are just rumors…. In recent years, they have begun to trade more with other nations and are trying to build up relationships and allies. Magic & Technology: Technology: Modern technology is beyond their comprehension. Things like guns and automobiles are forever out of reach. Magic: Magic is a strange thing in Oasir. It is seen as a gift from the goddess they worship, Delphion. The stronger one's magic may be, the closer that connection; with the highest of course being the avatar who sits upon the throne. Glyphs are the most common form of magic, allowing someone to teleport from one location to another, summon immaculate creations, defend themselves, etc. It is very rare to find someone from Oasir who is a “master” of magic, aside from the queen and the former queens. Military Overview: Despite being aggressive people, they often try to solve problems with diplomatic solutions due to the queen. Without leadership the nation would almost certainly have fallen into war a time or eight. Armies are usually led by former queens and consist of women with animal companions which aid them in battle. While they are a force to be reckoned with on land, as every woman is trained in combat from a very young age, they lack power in the sea or sky. Though they have ships, many of their people get seasick quite easily and the ability to fly is out of their technological comprehension.
