[indent][hider=She who does not climb...]Before there was Indira Rossi, there was Daniella and Anwar. Two souls so unalike in many ways, one with dreams bigger than the world and the other who strove to make the world [i]better[/i], somehow the unlikely couple made it work.

Or at least, it did in its own way.

Anwar and Dani were never [i]together[/i] per say, Anwar's aspirations were too grand not to follow that not even family could make him stay. The extent his role as a parental figure to his two children were dropping off just enough cash not to make them fall apart, leaving the rest of the care up to his family. Dani's job as a firefighter helped with the bills, allowing them to live comfortably in Eastbrook with the support of the extended Kumari family, but it was by no means perfect. 

But that's what Indira Rossi calls home.

The youngest result of the union between Dani and Anwar, Indira always was a needy child. Even as a toddler she would cry a lot, only sated in her mother's arms or with Sonya comforting her. This habit never changed, only growing more demanding as Indira became a toddler. It helped to some degree in kindergarten, Indira was able to quickly make friends with Maxine James who had comforted her after Indira found her Barbie doll being used by another child. Indira, in turn, invited Maxine to join her and her friends the next day when she found her alone during break time. All thanks to Indira's untimely tantrum and Maxine's kindhearted soul, a mutual friendship formed between them despite their opposite natures. Maxine was smart and kind, Indira liked to cry for attention and be a right menace to her peers. Teachers encouraged the friendship, hoping that Maxine's gentleness would rub off on Indira, and they had hoped correctly. And as Indira grew even older, she stuck by Maxine loyally. The best and stable relationship outside her family, the one Indira could turn to for support and in turn be someone for Maxie to lean on when being kind became too much. 

Indira's knack for garnering attention from those around her became tested when auntie [abbr=Paternal aunt, mother of Riri and Momo]Kimaya[/abbr] suggested Indira participate in pageantry. Both of Kimaya's daughters were involved, but neither had their heart in the show like Indira would have. Indira joined when she was 7, dressed in frilly frocks, shimmery eye shadow and blush that rounded off her face; coming third place on her first attempt. On her second attempt, she begged her father to attend too - to watch his daughter come first this time. She was hopeful, and she was that confident in her win. But when she scanned for his face in the crowd and saw no one resembling him, her resolve crumbled. The only thing she could take away from that disappointment was knowing that at least that event made for a convincing heartbreaking story when the judges ask about her family during future pageants. Pageantry became a big part of Indira growing up, shaping the way she would speak and act in public - always curated to look pleasant and perfect, always striving to win. It became addicting, always craving the thrill of being the center of attention.

[hider=...will not fall either.]Sometime before Indira's 9th birthday, Daniella took her youngest to Edenridge Family Studies & Clinic, noticing increasing symptoms of ADHD in her daughter. Indira was eventually diagnosed with combined type ADHD, with Dr. Ramsey suggesting Indira pick up sports as a way to help regulate her hyperactivity. Dani quickly placed Indira in a youth volleyball club, the only club at the time open for complete novices at a short term notice, with the hope of boosting the popularity of the sport amongst children Indira's age. Due to Indira's shorter stature, she was almost always relegated as the Libero - the back support of the team. While Indira was no immediate natural, with time and training, Indira grew to love the sport as a way to keep her active. Plus, she always loved hearing people fawn and compliment her for a particularly good save. 

By the time Indira became a teenager, it appeared as though she had her life in order. A fun, fulfilling hobby, a successful side hustle as a child pageant and a best friend that had her back no matter what. With a few wins to her name at this point, and some optional awards like [i]'Best fashion'[/i] or [i]'Sweetest smile'[/i], Indira felt like the world was her oyster.

That confidence led her to opening her Instagram account soon after her 13th birthday. She documented everything major that happened in her life, from a Volleyball win to her pageant dresses post event. An innocent hobby reminiscent of a scrapbook turned obsession as Indira began to track the likes. She noticed the more pictures she posted of herself in various attire, the more likes she seemed to garner. Hitting that sweet, sweet attention grabbing spot, enabling her vices in a way that fed her addiction some more.

An addiction that only seemed to grow out of control the older Indira got. Her fixation on the negative comments - particularly about her lips - forced Indira to change herself to please her audience. At 14 she lost a lot of weight, driven by the comments on her socials. Indira quickly picked up a job at [i]Well Loved Wonders[/i] when she was able to, considering she was already almost always browsing the shelves of the thrift store while pestering Maxine at work. She took everything she learnt from pageantry and put it all into her social media, growing from nothing to something impressive in a span of a few years.

But Indira wasn't always so superficial. Sometimes Maxine would encourage her to think outside of herself, about the world and people around her. Their combined strengths led to the best friends starting an annual tradition - a charity event to raise money for groups struggling in Edenridge. Some of their famous drives include the [abbr=Bid for a date with some of the cutest Edenridge High School has to offer. Only eligible for High School students, of course.]Boy Auction[/abbr], [abbr=Hired games, arcades and events with all the profits going to charity.]Casino Royale[/abbr] and [abbr=A lighthearted catwalk event with various themes. Until junior year, when Maxine was found dead in her car a week before her 17[sup]th[/sup] birthday. With Allison's death only a few months prior, the golden girl of Edenridge overshadowed any news of Maxie's passing. Indira fought for attention, this time to shine light on the injustice Maxie was facing. After all that effort to help them, after working herself to death for everyone, Maxine James was still forgotten. It terrified Indira.

If the world wouldn't even bother remembering a light like Maxine, what would they remember of her? Feelings of guilt, anger and trepidation festered, causing Indira to act out of desperation. She didn't want to be forgotten. Who would remember her now that Maxine was gone? Only Maxie really knew what Indie was like, not the superficial front she put on social media. One night, scrolling through the pits of her DMs, she got an idea. She bought a fake ID, opening an OnlyFans to continue profiting off her rising success. For a month after acceptance it remained dormant, had she acted irrationally? Who listened to those creeps asking for feet pics, really? Apparently she did, because shortly after she began uploading images of herself in lingerie or dancing hyper-sexually for the camera. Her face always hidden from frame or edited out, any identifiable marks scrubbed from those images.

This habit continued past graduation. Once she turned 18, she deleted her old OnlyFans account to create a legitimate one, an account where she could now freely post content without the fear of the law hanging over her head. Her mother's accident at work a year after her graduation only reinforcing her need to continue sex work when that was the biggest percentage of her income. Now, Indira hopes to make it bigger than her social media. No, if she wanted to make a big change, she had to become bigger, more relevant. Popular and [i]famous[/i].
