It is the purest form of destruction. Something utterly ruined should be completely gone. Vanished, not just from the physical world but also from the minds and memories of the people. When something is ruined, there is no more accursed hope for its salvation. It can never be repaired. Ithril sees ruin not as a senseless act of violence as it is often seen. It is one-half of Change. The green summer leaves must die, be destroyed, and even be devoured entirely if the tree wishes to bloom the next year. Even evergreens must toss their creations to the ground. There is not always room to create something new. Destruction becomes a necessity then. Sometimes someone else actively resists the change around them, most often because they have a vested interest in everything staying the same. More so then, should they be toppled. Destruction and ruin cleanse the slate. It makes space for something new. Ithril does not hate life or creation. He cherishes it deeply but understands that nothing should stay static, and everything should be challenged.
Persona
The Lord of Destruction has a surprisingly level-headed mind. He takes a keen interest in any and all creations of his kin. Above all else he loves to test said creations, to see how capable they are of change. Often times said tests can be seen as cruel or malevolent. Ithril cares little for such moralities. Though he does understand that his wishes, his desires, will make him an enemy to many. When interacting with others he thinks mostly transactional. He gives and takes all according to a carefully measured balance. Mortals make interesting wages too, most often when they are most desperate. His goal is to test all creations, either directly or through his agents. Of course, his agents get something in return for their effort.
