Well, unless another Yamask got in."

MAIN PROFILE
Name: Allen Martenson Age: 30 Gender: Male Birthplace: Hammerlocke Appearance Information: Stands at 5'11", with an upright posture that adds to his professional air. He keeps his dark hair reasonably neat, and his face clean shaven. Usually wears suits, and his idea of casual clothing is more like smart casual. Much of the time he has a slight frown, as if he's deep in thought. Personality: Quiet, scholarly and stuck in his ways, Allen values practicality and logic over everything else (or at least claims to). He rarely speaks, unless he has something important to say, or when he's making a snarky remark at someone else's antics. He isn't particularly competitive, only having become a gym leader to satisfy his Pokemon's love of battling. He'd much rather be reading books and drinking tea than climbing the ranks. What he won't admit, though, is the league challenges rekindle a side of himself he keeps buried. Many a challenger has seen something ignite in his eyes, or a half-smile tug at the corners of his lips as his Pokemon express joy in victory. He tries to get battles done with as quickly as possible, acting like there are more important things to focus on, but from time to time he almost lets himself share in the thrill of competition. He also has more than a passing interest in the events and heroic deeds of legend, despite claiming to prefer facts to fairytales. Usually, it's his Pokemon who see his warmer side, even though many of them frequently get on his last nerve. Short Biography: Allen never planned to become a gym leader. He never even particularly wanted to get into competitive battling. Events simply happened that way. It started with his childhood love of history, instilled in him by growing up in Hammerlocke. He and his schoolfriends used to play at being legendary heroes. He'd visit museums with his parents, and stare in awe at the displays. He'd read voraciously about the mythology of the Galar region, wondering how much was fact and how much was fiction. During his teenage years, his passion for learning led his family to enrol him in a prestigious school - which turned out to be a mistake. The academy's education style was sink or swim. Teachers were quick to criticise, and slow to praise. Wonder was treated as something to outgrow, in favour of proving one's value by competing to see who could memorise the most cold hard facts. And a social life was out of the question. Allen didn't complain. He didn't believe he had the right to, being lucky enough to receive such an education. By the time he graduated, the enthusiastic, myth-loving dreamer he'd once been was gone, replaced with someone who'd lost almost all imagination and curiosity. Keyword being almost. He took on the orderly job of museum curating, managing collections and exhibitions, yet occasionally he found himself daydreaming about the stories the artifacts told. At home, sometimes he'd watch videos of the medieval reenactments and renaissance fairs he'd once wanted so badly to take part in, telling himself it was for research purposes. A certain somebody took it upon himself to bring out the side Allen kept repressed. A sword brought into the museum a while back had turned out to be alive - a Honedge. For all the the horror stories about the species, the Honedge played harmless pranks rather than actually hurting anyone, so the staff let him stay. Of course, the uptight Allen became his favourite target. So before long, despite claiming to have no time to be a trainer, Allen had his first Pokemon. A Pokemon who yearned for teammates and competition. The Honedge, who he named Gladius, developed a friendly rivalry with a Meowth, so Allen had his second team member before he knew it. His team filled out from there, and he gave in to their incessant demands to battle, even taking on the league. Although he didn't win the Champion's Cup, league officials took notice of his skill, informing him of a vacancy in the minor league. He would have turned it down, if not for his Pokemon's enthusiasm about the idea. Unable to deny them the opportunity, he took on the role of Steel type gym leader. The rooms and cases are reinforced so nothing will get damaged. Near the exit of each room is a small arena and a trainer, who will ask you a question concerning the displays. Those who answer correctly will be able to pass straight through to the next area, while those who answer wrong will have to battle if they want to move forward.

POKEMON

[Pokemon #1]: Bronzong (Targe): Loves attention, and makes attacks as loud and flashy as possible. Will only grudgingly use more practical but less showy moves, and figures out ways to make them impressive. Insists on being sent out first, which is just as well since they know Trick Room. The markings on their body are darker blue than average. [Pokemon #2]: Ferroseed (Morningstar): Headstrong and determined, Morningstar likes to train on a frequent basis by shooting spikes at targets. If none are provided, she'll choose a target of her own - usually something in Allen's home. Rolls around when particularly stir-crazy, to the point that she has trouble changing course and tends to smash into stuff. [Pokemon #3]: Escavalier (Ahlspiess): While he plays the honourable knight, Ahlspiess has the occasional tricksy moment, such as stealing food or getting in a sneak attack. Has four red bands on each lance instead of three. [Pokemon #4]: Copperajah (Pernach): One of Allen's most level-headed Pokemon. He keeps a watchful eye over the rest of the team, trying his best to resolve problems and disputes, with varying levels of success. His tusks are longer than those of most Copperajah. Capable of Gigantamaxing.

[Pokemon #1]: Aegislash (Gladius): Allen's first Pokemon, he takes great delight in annoying his trainer by using his psychic powers to rearrange carefully curated things in the museum. Loves to battle, and tries to get Allen to enjoy it too. Despite being mischievous, he has a surprising sense of honour, refusing to fight notably weaker opponents. The edges of his blade are straight rather than serrated. [Pokemon #2]: Bisharp (Falchion): A cool and collected Pokemon who observes his opponents in battle, figuring out their weaknesses to use against them. Also likes to find methods of getting his way in everyday situations. Slightly taller than most Bisharp. [Pokemon #3]: Corviknight (Spadone): This Pokemon's intimidating appearance is at odds with her friendly personality. She's smart and can easily tell when someone's unhappy, doing what she can to cheer them up. Capable of Gigantamaxing. [Pokemon #4]: Perrserker (Ulfberht): Formerly a feral Meowth who kept seeking out Gladius for sparring sessions, Allen ended up taking him in as his second Pokemon. A grumpy feline who only appears to be happy when he's fighting. When he's annoyed at Allen or one of his teammates, he'll let them know in no uncertain terms. Has multiple scars on his body from his time as a stray, each of which he's proud of. [Pokemon #5]: Empoleon (Kopis): Haughty and regal, Kopis hates to lose. He doesn't take kindly to anyone who wounds his ego in any way, becoming extremely defensive. Acts like a bossy second-in-command to the rest of Allen's team - which can be a good thing as he keeps the more wayward ones in check. [Pokemon #6]: Aggron (Brigandine): A feisty and protective Pokemon, Brigandine has claimed the gym as her territory. Woe betide anyone who tries to harm Allen or any of his other Pokemon. She has quite the appetite, and on more than one occasion, Allen has had to stop her from eating priceless ancient metal artifacts.

[Pokemon #1]: Lucario (Akinaka): Acts like the archetypal cocky martial artist, snickering at opponents and showing off her moves. While a good fighter, her overconfidence has cost her a few matches, so Allen now keeps her out of battle much of the time while he tries to help her overcome her attitude problem. [Pokemon #2]: Bastiodon (Pavise): A lazy Pokemon who likes to eat and sleep, Pavise nonetheless jumps into action if her trainer or teammates are threatened. Her lax attitude is why she doesn't often take part in battles. A little chubbier than most of her species. ...

[Pokemon #1]: Runerigus (Mantlet): Originally a Yamask who got into a clay slab in the museum. Since Allen had become an accomplished trainer by then, naturally it fell to him to subdue the disruptive spirit. Gaining respect for him, the Yamask joined his team. Likes to jumpscare Allen with Phantom Force, to get a rise out of the usually unemotional trainer. ...

RELATIONS
TBD
