Her blood. While there's nothing special about her blood - unless you're a vampire willing to risk it all - her magic is based entirely around using her own blood. Rune circles drawn in her blood, bloody, whip-like tendrils, and beyond. It's a rather unique skillset and one that has earned her very little trust as such powers are seen by some to be unnatural. Despite her circumstances, Nabi remains ever optimistic - in public, anyway. She learned early on that the worst thing you could do was show how much something bothers you, as such she puts up a strong front, a brave face, because if she didn't then everyone would know her as "the girl who cries in the bathroom" rather than just "the weird girl with blood magic" While not exactly a social butterfly - though not for lack of trying - Nabi doesn't just shrink into the back of a room, huddled against a wall or the like. She may not be Miss Popular but if people are going to talk about her anyway she figures they might as well do so because of her unique fashion or her overly sentimental and sweet demeanor. It's not uncommon for Nabi to show up in bright pastel patchwork clothes or with a box of cinnamon rolls that she casually mentions putting her "blood and sweat" into which is likely why some people don't take one. [/sub] [sub]WEAKNESSES[/sub] [sub]Anemic - Given the source of her magic is her own blood, she is prone to having a weak constitution and to tire easily. If she goes overboard she runs the risk of dying. Overly physical activity is a drain on her and after using her magic in anything other than moderation or as necessary causes her to require recovery time. Often by sleeping. Nabi has a tendency to put her entire being into things, which normally would be seen as a strength but given her magic this means she has a reckless streak that could do more harm than good. She needs someone to tell her not to go overboard, or someone to be there to catch her when she passes out. Nabi doesn't forget things easily and to that end she can be impatient especially when it pertains to getting things she thinks she wants or needs. She gets annoyed when people don't listen to her or when they belittle or look down on her and while she doesn't physically lash out, she is not above holding it against them in the off chance they ask her for a favor down the line. Her biggest offense involves eating a large amount of garlic fries whenever a certain vampire does something that causes Nabi stress. Most of her fellow magically inclined sorts have been anything but nice to her - the only difference between them and the bullies at her old school is that the bullies at her old school had the decency to be upfront about things. In Nabi's experience, witches talk and mock in secret but it hurts all the same. She would have thought her fellow witches and wizards would have a little empathy but perhaps she was wrong in her assumptions. It has been the vampires that Nabi is most fascinated by. While her experience with them has been...interesting, to say the least, it was a vampire that has made her feel more...normal. She knows she is probably getting her hopes up but she would want nothing more than to be truly accepted in their clique, but she can't help but wonder how many of them see her only as a bloodbag given her abilities. If she could be one of them, then maybe she wouldn't have to feel so alone anymore... Nabi has had very few interactions with werewolves but given they tend to stay closer to their own, she has very little desire to get to know them first. She's open to befriending them but they have to be the ones to show that they are different from the witches and wizards who have made her life at Hawthorne anything but enjoyable.[/sub] [sub]AMBITIONS[/sub] [sub][sup]▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔[/sup][/sub] [sub] ➽➽➽ Nabi wants to show that blood magic doesn't make her any more or less abnormal, that she is just like the rest of the spellslingers of the world. Magic was something that existed in tall tales and movies and the like, though Nabi's first exposure to magic was at school. Just a normal, average, regular school for regular boys and girls. Nabi had thought she would have a normal school life, friends and homework, crushes and tests, clubs and graduation, but Nabi made a mistake that she could never have accounted for: she showed up to school being poor. Her mother had died in an unfortunate robbery gone wrong and after the funeral, many sharks and shady sorts took the opportunity to cash in on the debts her father had. Nabi's first day of school she had the nerve to wear clothes twenty years out of style - and three times too big - and that was all it took. Day after day she was mocked and ridiculed. It started harmlessly enough, name calling, making fun of her lack of wealth, but then it became more physical. Shoving. Hitting. The ring leader was the queen of the school, some stuck up hussy who routinely boasted that she secretly had magic powers and she was just waiting to make a wand. Her goons believed her, because if they didn't they were sure to be the next victim. Such was the grasp she had on her fellow students. Nabi knew she was full of it, but if she spoke up it would only end poorly. But eventually it did end. After half a year of being bullied, Nabi was victim to a physical assault that left her crying and bleeding in the bathroom for the crime of showing up to school. It hurt. It stung. Her blood was warm. Her blood was boiling. As blood dripped onto the floor, Nabi saw it eat through toilet paper, not the way liquid eats through paper, but the way fire burns through it. Everything moved in slow motion as Nabi looked at the bruises on her body, and saw the blood leave her body like a bullet, splattering onto the stall. Nabi didn't show up to school for two weeks after that. When she returned, she interrupted her bully saying again how she was magic. Nabi started laughing, a deranged sort of laugh, and called her a liar. "You say you're a witch? Then where's your magic? Huh?" Nabi shouted as she grabbed the arm of her bully, and from a small cut on Nabi's arm out shot a blood-whip, wrapping around the arm of the bully and squeezing tight. Tighter than a blood pressure machine. So tight that the bully's arm was turning black and purple. Screams were heard. Tears. And all Nabi could do was laugh and demand her bully use magic. Prove it. Nabi was forcefully pulled off and thrown to the ground as the bully passed out. Nabi was, of course, expelled for what she did. Her father had no idea what to make of it, until someone that knew his wife, Nabi's mother, showed up and explained the situation and what the next option was. Nabi was going to Hawthorne though she was warned that her magic wouldn't exactly make her the most liked person on campus. Nabi didn't care. Perhaps she should've. Her first year so far has been far from ideal, with the same sorts of people whispering about her. The only difference is it feels somehow even more hurtful because they're supposed to be on the same team. But all hope is not yet lost.
[/cell][/row]
