He's never taken a great pleasure in hunting, but since he could follow the pack on their hunts, he's been one of the most successful at tracking down prey. Down For Anything - August is desperate to have a home, and this has translated into an insistence on his part to help anyone, and everyone. Despite his own anxieties, August is always ready for an adventure, a loyal ally and an easy friend. He's a golden retriever, eager and ready to help however he can. Don't Eat That - A childhood spent in the forests of Ireland has left August with an almost encyclopedic knowledge of edible plants and fungi. He knows what will kill you, and what will make you feel better. Useful when trying to survive in the wild, or when attempting to brew a Potion of Focus to try and make it through finals. [/sub] [sub]WEAKNESSES[/sub] [sub]Follower - Every pack has a leader, and that leader has never been August. Perhaps his aversion to leadership makes him the perfect leader, but if so, we'll never find out. August is most comfortable in a supporting role, deeply afraid of the responsibility that comes along with a leadership position. You Can Smell The Desperation - August is the type that thrives on the validation of others. He needs to be reassured that he is in the right, that he is useful, that he is wanted. He jumps at any chance for approval, even if it comes from some less than perfect places. Painfully Empathetic - There's healthy levels of empathy, and then there's August. The young werewolf has found that he has a tendency to get far too wrapped up in the emotions of others, a cheerleader who can take things too far. So much of himself is wrapped up in the people around him, to the point that he often sidelines his own thoughts and feelings, in order to focus on those of his friends and family. [/sub] [sub]OUTLOOK / IDEALS / PERSPECTIVE [/sub] [sub][sup]▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔[/sup][/sub] [sub]August has tried his best to stay out of Academy politics. In his eyes, there is little difference between the various species that fall under the Academy's purview. They'd all be hunted if their society was revealed to the humans, and to him, that means they all ought to be on the same side. What was that thing that one American dude said? "A house divided against itself, can not stand." When it comes to humans, August is wary. Despite his packs removal from human society, he's had a handful of run ins with them throughout his adolescence, and he finds them troubling to say the least. They have no respect for the natural world, and they all seem to revel in violence. The Academies claim they protect humans from supernaturals, but he thinks it works both ways. They both need protection from each other.[/sub] [sub]AMBITIONS[/sub] [sub][sup]▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔[/sup][/sub] [sub] ➽➽➽ Find his pack, wherever that may be.[/sub] [sub]FEARS[/sub] [sub][sup]▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔[/sup][/sub] [sub] ➽➽➽ Ending up as a lone wolf.[/sub] [sub] в í σ g r α p h ч [/sub] [sub][sup]▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔[/sup][/sub]
Unlike his sister, August remembers nothing of his life before their new pack. His first memories are of Romulus and the pack's medicine woman brewing an herbal remedy to ease a fever. The only parents he's ever known have been the elders of the pack, and his sister. Romulus took a special interest in Callen, but he spent the days of his youth roaming with the younger children around camp, getting into whatever trouble children seem to attract. He was raised communally, always under the impression that he was the happiest any orphan could be. As he grew into his powers, the world opened up around him. He and the other young werewolves took great pleasure in searching out human towns, and spying on their terribly normal lives. Elders were the only ones allowed to actually interact with them, but August and the other children could not resist observing what mundanity felt like. Most of them grew bored, but not August. He remained incessantly curious, and began to dream of a normal life. He imagined them pleasant, open minded and probably not all that different from the people he knew. Sure, they lived in homes and permanent settlements instead of the tents and caravans that he'd come to know, but that didn't mean they weren't kind and warm and welcoming? Of course, August was wrong. Humans do not take kindly to giant wolves prowling around their territory. Though most of his friends had refused to accompany him on his trips, August continued toeing the line. Finally, it caught up to him. The town he'd been visiting eventually decided to investigate the reports of large wolves in the surrounding woods, and one night, the hunting party intercepted him. August did not realize the danger he was in. The bullets did not pierce his skin, but they packed a punch, and they filled him with fear. The hunters chased him through the woods, as far as they could follow, and August returned to camp with a new outlook on the world. The incident led to a falling out with Romulus. The surrogate father scolded him for his curiosity, reminded him what would happen to the pack if humans were to discover them. Romulus, who'd always seen him as just a boy, only trusted him less after that. For a few days, he worried he'd be exiled, but his sister remained by his side, and thus, he was allowed to stay. Soon though, his sister left for Hawthorne, and then, he was alone. An outcast among outcasts. When it came time to leave for Hawthorne, August jumped at the opportunity. He would get to be near his sister again, and away from the pack of wolves who saw him as a foolish boy. He wants to prove that he is more than some child, led along by impulse. He wants to prove that he can help, not hinder, that he is a boon, rather than a bane. He's just not quite sure how. Charisma flows off of the Douglas' like beer flows from a tap. While this special charm seems to do almost nothing when it comes to their fellow supernaturals, it has made coexistence with humans far easier. Even without supernatural enhancement, Teddy is a silver-tongued devil, known for being able to sell wigs to a werewolf. I Think I Read About That - Thanks to the expansive library at Douglas Keep, Teddy has an expansive knowledge on all things historical, supernatural or otherwise. There is very little for an adolescent vampire to do other than read, and it seems to have paid off. It's Called Privilege, Look It Up - Teddy has the kind of confidence that only comes with heaps of money, and a life lived without conflict. Despite the unnatural politics that surround him, Theodore has led a relatively charmed life, and while this sword cuts both ways, it has granted him a certain boldness that others work years to find. There is rarely a problem that Teddy doesn't presume he can solve. [/sub] [sub]WEAKNESSES[/sub] [sub]Tunnel Vision - Theodore has a tendency to get wrapped up in his latest obsession, be it a person, place, or thing. He holds a grudge longer than is healthy, and falls far too hard when allowing himself to love. He is passionate in the most intense of fashions, rarely able to turn away until he's satisfied the craving for his latest obsession. So Dramatic - Teddy has a tough time with emotions. He feels things intensely, and while he values control more than anything, he has a tendency to lose it. His fits of anger can be explosive, just as his joys can be euphoric. Bloodlust - Being raised with easy access to human blood means that the cocktail that the witches brew only does so much for Teddy. He's grown used to the swill, seeing as how he's always under the Academy's eye. Human blood however, even a drop, will quickly chip away at his control, until he is little more than the rabid monster his enemies believe him to be. [/sub] [sub]OUTLOOK / IDEALS / PERSPECTIVE [/sub] [sub][sup]▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔[/sup][/sub] [sub]Teddy is not exactly known for his open-mindedness. It's clear from almost everything about him that he rates vampires above the other species of supernaturals. He sees werewolves as glorified dogs, and witches as the oppressor. There's very little middle ground for him to tread, and while Hyoon has helped him perfect his common courtesies, it's difficult to separate him from the ideals of his family. When it comes to humans, it would be apt to say that Teddy couldn't care less. He thinks about humans the same way they think about a good burger. To him, humans are cattle, cattle that's been denied by a bunch of stewards who think that they know best. You wouldn't ask a lion to go vegan, why would you demand a vampire do the same? It's not that he resents humans, or even wishes any harm on them. It's just that he prefers his meals from the Earth, rather than the cauldron. For a vampire, it's the looming shadow that darkens every corner of their lives. Few know what awaits in the great beyond, but plenty have speculated. They trace their roots back far, farther than is realistic, but certainly far enough to leverage a good deal of power in the supernatural world. They take a great pride in their status as vampires, and have long chafed at the limitations set in place by the wizards. Publicly though, they keep their dissatisfaction with the Academies measured. In the early days of what was then a brand new system, the Douglas' were one of the Vampire clans that refused to adopt the new ways. They have not forgotten the punishment that followed. While they have remained staunch members of the anti-Academy faction in Europe, they are now considered the most diplomatic and reasonable of the clans counted in their ranks. Douglas' are known for nothing if not their good manners, and willingness to negotiate. That is all a carefully crafted facade, a front put forward in order to survive. The Douglas' are still a cutthroat bunch of vampires, hell bent on overthrowing the wizards and rearranging the Academy system. They haven't forgotten the old ways, and they don't soon plan on it. Douglas Keep is a refuge for likeminded vampires, and rumor has it, an excellent place to procure human blood. Teddy's story begins at Douglas Keep, steeped in history and schemes. His parents were Elizabeth Ardelian and John Douglas, a marriage arranged by Teddy's grandmother, Victoria. The Douglas Clan was an expansive one, and the keep was filled with his various aunts and uncles, all of them pureblooded vampires. His youth was hardly traditional, to say the least. He trained in combat and plots, he studied anatomy and ritual magic, and he hunted on the grounds whenever his grandmother allowed. Sanctimonious, lesser supernaturals look on him, and see a boy who made the wrong choice, but truly, he never stood a chance. Violence and death are facts of life for him, and he grew cold to it over the years, and even colder towards the humans they wronged. He had to, if he wanted to survive. When it came time to leave the safety of the keep, Teddy was called into his grandmother's chambers and given an important task. He was to gather information at the Academy, both on his teachers and his peers. He was to find allies where he could, identify threats, and find their weaknesses. He was the forward scout, sent out so that those vampires who wished to return to the old ways could plan their next move with care. In his time at the Academy, Teddy has exceeded his expectations, academic and otherwise. He has stayed loyal to his family, keeping them well informed of events at the school, while doing his best to find allies amongst his fellow vampires. He's become somewhat infamous at the school, both for his close friendship with the resident ice queen, Hyoon, and his unfortunate tendency to leave hearts shattered in his wake. This makes her especially efficient when it comes to healing and defensive spells. Big Brained - Intelligent and resourceful, Celeste is rarely at a loss for ideas. With a wealth of knowledge to pull from, it's damn near impossible to stump her. She has a knack for making solutions appear out of thin air, to help herself or others. Otherworldly Beauty - The de Fontaines have not retained many traits from their original Siren ancestor, but Irina's beauty has remained in the blood. Celeste has a clearly supernatural quality to her perfect features, an enchanting visage that draws strangers to her, in hopes of simply catching her eye. Spoiler alert: she hates it. [/sub] [sub]WEAKNESSES[/sub] [sub]Closed Off - Celeste has never been particularly good at "relationships." She's always been more focused on studying and practicing, and friends have always seemed like an unnecessary distraction. Very few people make it past the walls she's put up and those that do are those who've earned it. Sure, it's lonely, but she doesn't mind. She definitely doesn't mind. My Way or The Highway - The only right answer, is the one Celeste offers up, at least in her mind. Stubborn to a fault, and deeply confident in her own abilities, it's hard to convince Celeste of anything, especially without sound facts and logic to back you up. I'm Not Wrong, I Just Haven't Made My Way To Right Yet - Celeste is many things but self-aware isn't quite one of them. She has a tendency to be blinded by her own hubris, ignoring her own flaws even when she's smacked in the face with them. She struggles with taking responsibility for her own mistakes, because in her head, she can fix everything, as long as she has enough time. Jean Luc de Fontaine was a French wizard, born to a pair of surprisingly average magic-users in the early 19th century. His parents' skills had never manifested in an especially powerful way. They sent him to Hawthorne in the hopes that he might exceed both of them, but they did not truly expect anything to come from it. Jean Luc, it turned out, was incredibly powerful, much more than anybody had prepared for. At Hawthorne, Jean Luc discovered a natural affinity for elemental magic, a skill that led him to his wife, Irina. Irina was a Siren, and like Jean Luc, did not descend from any great bloodline. Together though, their union would lead to one of the most powerful families in Europe. Jean Luc, with the help of his wife, would go on to discover a powerful fertility potion that launched the couple into the upper echelons of supernatural society. Jean Luc would go on to serve as a Headmaster as Hawthorne, and their children would discover their own additions to magical society. Much farther down the line, by the time Celeste is born, the de Fontaines had become well known amongst witches and wizards. Countless amongst them had used the Fountain of Fertility potion to start their families, or the De Fontaine Erotic Elixir to spice up their sex lives. To put it simply, the union of wizard and siren led to the commodification of sexual magic in a way no one could've predicted. Now, the de Fontaines are seen as hedonists, albeit very rich and influential ones. Enter the de Fontaine twins. Born to Gregory and Isolde de Fontaine, Celeste and her brother, Nathaniel, were expected to carry on the de Fontaine name with all the energy and laissez-faire attitude. Celeste, at least, has always tried to meet that expectation, with varying results. A gifted witch from the day she was born, Celeste's pride does not come from hedonism, but ability. She has committed all of herself to being the best she can be. Despite that though, or perhaps because of it, Celeste has never quite fit in as a de Fontaine. She is not an adventurous hedonist, like her mother, or an eccentric artist like her father. She is logical and rational, and believes in plans and monogamy and rules. Her family doesn't quite understand any of that. Nevertheless, Celeste has made a name for herself at Hawthorne, outside of her family. There's no better study partner at the Academy, and everybody knows that they can trust her in a fight. Sure, they also think her wand is lodged in a not so flattering place, but Celeste has learned not to care too much about what people are thinking of her. She's on track for greatness, and if nobody understands that, then she doesn't need any of them.
[/cell][/row]
