Iron Man would definitely work. So would Hawkeye or Mockingbird, just note that ImaginedBird67 was considering playing the Kate Bishop Hawkeye, so you two might need to collaborate if you end up picking related characters.

I think that original character would work. I’m envisioning that most of the agents and techs of SHIELD who weren’t actually Hydra would have been recruited as support members of the Avengers. Also secret sub-divisions of SHIELD is something we are going to be exploring from practically the start of the story.
