In fact, he’s trained so extensively with the element that his hair is always spiked up with static electricity, and making contact with him always results in a bit of a static discharge. He has an electrifying personality. He’s witty and has a quick tongue, forged in the fires of sibling banter. Orion loves making anyone he’s holding a conversation with feel like they’re the most important person in the world. In his humble opinion? If he’s talking to him, they must be at least the second most important person, behind himself. Years of being told what he’s done wrong has helped Orion become a very self-aware person. It’s easy for him to admit his shortcomings or mistakes, and it’s even easier for him to discuss how to overcome them. He considers this his most valuable trait. He wouldn’t be nearly as successful at anything if he couldn’t admit when he’s wrong.[/sub] [sub]WEAKNESSES[/sub] [sub]Orion is stubborn. He’d rather spend three hours running into a brick wall head first than admit it would be simpler to go around it. It’s difficult for him to admit when he’s wrong, and when it comes down to it, he’s the type of person who would rather make a nickel his way than a dollar someone else’s way. He’s self-aware of this, but often finds himself in a trap of being unable to admit that he’s wrong and there’s a simpler way of doing it. Though he’s mostly capable of keeping a lid on it, he has an explosive temper. Orion does his best to keep appearances up and not let people know when he’s getting angry or close to losing it, but anyone who’s seen him get truly upset knows his tells. A temper tantrum from Orion Graves is loud and sometimes violent. It’s well known that Mr. Graves is somewhat full of himself, but why wouldn’t he be? After years of exceeding the expectations of everyone but one man, it’s only natural that Orion thinks he’s at least a little better than everyone else. It’s a mindset that can be spun positively or negatively, but unfortunately the way Orion looks at it varies from day to day.[/sub] [sub]OUTLOOK / IDEALS / PERSPECTIVE [/sub] [sub][sup]▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔[/sup][/sub] [sub]For a long time, Orion believed what he’d been taught by his family: everyone who isn’t a member of a spellslinger family, and especially anyone who wasn’t a member of a longstanding family like the Graves is simply lesser. It’s only been in the last few years that he’s really built an opinion of his own… the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree; Orion and his father arrived at similar conclusions, for different reasons. While his father thinks other races and families are beneath them, Orion couldn’t believe that, not after meeting so many werewolves, vampires, and other spellslingers while at the Academy. No, Orion realized that others are, put simply, stupid. He’s seen vampire and werewolves nearly kill each other in the schoolyard because of family feuds dating back a thousand years, and he’s watched with disgust as other wizards simply laughed at them. He doesn’t understand why the wolves and bats don’t simply move on from things that happened before most of them existed. And, more importantly, he doesn’t understand why his fellow wizards seem to believe its not only acceptable, but right to feel so above their peers that fights are something to be laughed at. It annoys him. And what annoys him even more is that there’s really nothing he can do about it. People will believe what they want to believe.[/sub] [sub]AMBITIONS[/sub] [sub][sup]▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔[/sup][/sub] [sub] ➽➽➽ Usurping his father as the patriarch of the Graves family and taking the family in a different, hopefully healthier direction[/sub] [sub]FEARS[/sub] [sub][sup]▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔[/sup][/sub] [sub] ➽➽➽ Failing.[/sub] [sub] в í σ g r α p h ч [/sub] [sub][sup]▔▔▔▔▔▔▔▔[/sup][/sub]
“I don’t want your best, I want you to be the best.” Spoken by his father, those words constantly ring out in Orion Graves’s mind. From the moment he was born, immense pressure has weighed down on his shoulders. As the eldest child and only son, Orion is the one expected to carry on the family legacy. Despite his best efforts to live up to the lofty expectations his parents have for him, the goalposts have constantly moved. When he began to understand his natural affinity with electric themed magic at a young age, it wasn’t good enough. Why could understand the magic, but not cast spells? Another person may have crumbled under the heavy pressure, but Orion has always been determined to become the diamond his father expects him to be. Every day of his life has been filled with almost nonstop hard work fueled by an unhealthy obsession with becoming better. His father certainly wouldn’t tolerate mistakes, so why would he? Day in and day out he practiced spells, long before he entered the Academies. Orion managed to turn the way his father treated him into a positive; his ability to be studious has been invaluable during his career at the Academy. It isn’t all sunshine and rainbows though. He doesn’t handle failures well, and though he isn’t too quick to anger, his explosive temper is well known to his close friends and siblings. Speaking of his siblings, Orion considers himself the ‘leader’ of the Graves trio, and his sisters would begrudgingly agree. As the oldest, Orion does his part in making sure that his sisters have a good time at the Academy, even if that means sometimes dealing with Delphi’s temper tantrums. At the Academy, Orion frequently works with younger students. He enjoys helping them learn in a way that’s less demanding than how his father taught him. His teachers look at him as a valuable assistant in the classroom, and a student who will always figure out whatever challenge they lay out for him. He does a good job of keeping his darker side to himself, something he works doubly hard on because he knows his father would be immensely disappointed if the cracks he’s been forming over the years began to show in public.
[/cell][/row]
