Offered a demotion by the Mayor as a means of compromising following public scrutiny over his alignment with The Batman, Gordon was a phone call away from resigning out of a sense of integrity. Only when The Dark Knight convinced him otherwise did he accept the Mayor's terms. Now, the vigilante feels he owes it to his closest ally in the field to make their partnership even more worth the sacrifice.[/color]

Having worked with Batman to oust Oswald Cobblepot from power within the criminal underworld, the one-time Catwoman has briefly hung up her whip in an effort to run what was once the central hub of Gotham City's most illicit dealings. Dedicating her newfound resources towards setting up a supposed criminal empire of her own, Selina both acts as a crucial informant to the Bat-Family and as a silent protector of those who are victimized by her clientele.[/color]

[b]WILLIAM ANDERSON -[/b] [color=slategray]His honor, The Mayor of Gotham. A former city councilman and family man that successfully campaigned on traditional values and the re-establishment of order, Anderson's zero-tolerance policies brought him directly into conflict with the unspoken rule of the GCPD's allowance of vigilante justice. Promising to rid the city of both the influence of the criminal element and The Batman, the Mayor has graciously accepted the aid of Bruce Wayne as a financial benefactor since the beginning. Because despite his firm stance against his alter-ego, everything Wayne has discovered about Anderson seems to point toward a genuine soul willing to fight for the good of the city.[/color]

[b]COMMISSIONER RENEE MONTOYA -[/b] [color=slategray]Leader of The GCPD, founder of The GTO. While accepting the task of replacing Jim Gordon was difficult, Montoya is more pragmatic about her approach when dealing with the combined threat of Gotham's supervillains and it's plainclothes criminals. She knows that both need equal attention, so after working with Mayor Anderson to develop it, Montoya has established the Gotham Terrorist Oppression Unit to take the fight to the repeat offenders of Arkham Asylum and Blackgate. Along with Captain Bullock, the GTO's leader, she runs a tight ship to weed out the best of the best. While she hasn't any grievances with The Batman, she also doesn't outwardly condone his methods - and if ordered to arrest him or his followers, she'll do so without hesitation.[/color]

He was a founding member of The Justice League and remained with the team until their disbandment, seeing no desire to return. His history largely reflects that of the Post-Crisis/Rebirth continuities, where he became dedicated to crimefighting after the murder of his parents, trained his mind and body to their limits in a worldwide journey, returned to fight the corrupt while disguised as a fearsome creature of the night, made enemies of increasingly volatile opportunists and the insane, adopted several recruits into the fold and oversaw their training, built up an arsenal of some of the most advanced non-lethal technology and weapons on Earth, and firmly established himself in the world of buisness while also presenting the facade of a careless playboy. He's legally adopted Dick Grayson, Tim Drake, and Cassandra Cain as his children, and has a biological son in Damian. He still believes that Jason Todd died the night that The Joker murdered him. And while he and Selina Kyle nearly married, it wasn't meant to be.[/indent][/COLOR]

While he obviously has a rather large family of agents, Batman has become increasingly isolated from them and operates on his own in the field. This makes him vulnerable to behavior that could threaten everything he's built, particularly when his enemies seize the opportunity to make his life hell under the machinations of a mysterious third party looking to destabilize the well-being of Gotham's protector out of personal revenge. To do that, Batman will be put through a gauntlet of his worst foes, from The Riddler to Bane, Ra's Al Ghul, The Penguin, and eventually, The Joker, who still has yet to pay for the murder of the second Robin many years ago. And on the path towards that endgame, he'll be forced to come into conflict with those who bear his symbol to ultimately challenge this pattern of behavior.[/INDENT][/COLOR][/cell][/row][/table][hr][/COLOR]
