It had only one big room, with a fireplace in the center, but it was home, where she spent most of her days helping the Sachiko, or playing outside whenever her help was not needed. Ageha could never go too far however, as the old woman gave her warnings to never go out of the forest without her. The few times she tried, somehow Sachiko got there first, or caught up with her quickly whenever she did give her the slip. Afterwards she'd be punished severely, like having to go without food for one day or being made a scarecrow for one day, scaring off birds from the small vegetable patch they had, which was hard work considering she was rather small at the time, and the birds were rather bold. The few times she actually got out was with Sachiko, and it was mostly a quick trip to a shop or two and then she was whisked away back to the forest. Her past was never mentioned directly by Sachiko; she always evaded Ageha's probing questions, and when pressed simply said it was better not to know. However, there were times Sachiko let a few things slip, and from those pieces of information that remained relatively consistant between each retelling, Ageha pieced together a few part of her past. The village she was in was destroyed by an evil man, her family massacred and her house burnt down. Sachiko, fighting off some of the evil man's minions, heard Ageha crying somewhere and rushed off to save her. She then fought off a large ogre, and several thousand demons which Ageha deemed was of very questionable truth. When the old woman deemed she was ready, Ageha was given two wooden rods, then plunged straight into kenjutsu training where she faced Sachiko herself in full contact battles. It was highly confusing and very disorienting, as she finally saw the old woman really move. Her first time in kenjutsu training resulted her having a lot of bruises, and a small glimpse of Sachiko's other side. She could not yield, for the old woman would ignore it, crying was useless, and the best she could do was pickup the wooden rods again and try t block the old woman's attack. The ninjitsu training was even more confusing, being taught jutsu that was obviously above her level. That never detered Sachiko however, as she tempered training sessions with threats and rewards. While she did eventually get better at kenjutsu, mimicking Sachiko's movements, ninjitsu training for her was harder, though she did manage to grasp how Sachiko molded the water into her own image. After a particularly vicious training session that left her writhing in pain, she asked Sachiko for the reason why she was subjected to this torture. Sachiko never answered. The years passed and Ageha grew quite skilled at kenjutsu, and even managed to improve in some of the ninjitsu she was taught as well. She learned how to survive off the land as well, something she learnt after being forced to live outside during one of the old woman's more intensive training. One day Sachiko opened up the floor boards and pulled out several canvas parcels. Opening them revealed weapons. A lot of weapons that Sachiko seemed to have used before. Several tags tied up in a bundle, kunai, shuriken, swords, and a lot of other weapons with different shapes and sizes. Sachiko explained that she used to be quite the hot ninja back in the days, and this hut was one of the safehouses they used once. After which she picked out a pair of twin blades, handing them to Ageha, promising to teach her more about all the other weapons. By now she was used to most of the old woman's habit and eccentricities, and obeyed her rules without question, so when the old woman dissappeared for days, Ageha thought nothing amiss, and continued on tending to the old hut, which looked a little bit better now that she was old enough to actually do some repairs and maintenance on the crooked thing. It was common for her to disappear for days at a time, then return bringing some provisions or something else to the house. Ageha suspects she was out meeting with some of her old friends, but never asked. However, this time she returned with barely anything, looking rather pale and.... older, somehow. Fearing the worse, Ageha took her back to the hut, where she remained bedridden for days. Weeks passed, and Sachiko was finally lucid enough to sit up and talk. "They've done it... Those fools done it.... I promised I will never rest until he was dethroned, bought low before me..." "Grandmother, what are you talking about?" Sachiko simply gave her a smile. "I am sorry... Age...ha.." *** Ageha closed the dusty tome, sighing to herself. She had found the tome while cleaning out the house, having no real idea what to do now that Sachiko was dead. Ageha would have stayed in the old hut, heeding Sachiko's warning to never go out of the forest unless needed and tending to her grave near the river, if not for the tome she found. The old woman's diary. It was hard to stop reading when a book chronicles the life of one you loved, and yourself as well. Harder still to keep the tears from falling, as old memories both euphoric and sad overwhelmed her. There was even an entry on a rather private part of Sachiko's life when she flipped all the way to the beginning of the book, about a samurai who eventually became her husband. Ageha skipped the pages where the diary started to describe their nights together where the entries became increasingly steamy. However, that was not the only thing the book kept, there were also other events and Sachiko's thoughts recorded. While most of what she had pieced together was correct, there was one detail she had never managed to get; the name of the person who ordered the destruction of her village and the systematic genocide of all the people living there. Sachiko, after saving her, then honed Ageha to be the tool of her vengeance. Desperate for some sort of purpose to her life, Ageha set out to find and assassinate Sai. However, in the first village she stumbled upon, she learned Sai was already long dead, thus rendering her purpose for going out of the forest null and moot. It was then that she learned of a ninja village, which had issued a summons to people like herself, in the words of the guardsman that spoke with her. Having no real idea of what else to do, Ageha sought out the nearest village, arriving at Konohagakure's doorsteps weeks later. With literally no idea of what she was doing, she joined the military, having already the skills to take on a chuunin on equal grounds. However, it was apparent that the basics of ninjitsu was not taught to her from the way she executed her jutsu. Thus, she was introduced to another aspect of the village, the Academy and its Remedial Classes. Just like Sachiko to teach her advanced stuff and leave out the basics... Personality: What she truly believes in is herself, thus she can be rather hard headed if she feels like it. Having spent most of her life practicing, she has no concept of what being social means. Ageha can interact with people, but not socialize well. Quick to trust and slow to anger, she could be called naive or ignorant, as she is woefully inexperienced in most aspects of life. Combat Style: Ageha fights mostly using taijutsu, and kenjutsu. Her style of fighting is closer to a samurai's than a ninja's, perhaps because of the old woman's reasoning that Sai would have been familiar with a ninja's style of fighting.
