"Taste Gold."
Name: Matilda Armstrong Age: 18 Gender(or lack thereof): Female What Makes You A Misfit?: Ran away from her home in order to escape her decadent and materialist family. Her wealth only attracted sycophants and con artists in her early life as well as derision from the less fortunate people. She really had no one trustworthy to call her own. Appearance(face claims are allowed, as well as just descriptions): Personality: Upon initial encounter, Matilda is someone who is in over her own head. A pampered princess who ran away from home out of sheer pettiness and contempt. Underneath that prideful, cynical, and blind ambition, is someone desperately looking for a purpose in life. Skills/Abilities: Had studied business finance and accounting, learned French and German, organizer, erudite, public speaking, and bribery. Powers/Magic: Matilda can create any form of currency into existence, from coins, precious metals, jewels, and paper from any country and nation-state around the world. She is virtually the wealthiest person in the world and in history. A power that is highly coveted by the most greedy and envious people. Additionally, she can transmute any form of metal or inorganic material to precious metals, whether gold, silver, or platinum. A process that is not irreversible. Backstory(Optional): When it comes to family, Matilda wishes she was related to Neil Armstrong of Ohio instead of the Armstrong family of Massachusetts. A New England dynasty synonymous with opulence, like the Vanderbilts or Kennedys, the Armstrongs amassed their fortunes through banking and finances. As such, her father made sure that Matilda’s childhood want for nothing. In the beginning, Matilda did enjoy being the center of attention. She enjoyed getting everything she asked for. The people loved her but as she grew older, she realized it was because of her money. The familial warmth disappeared from her life as her parents kept Matilda under their thumbs and threw more responsibility upon her when she approached adulthood. Life grew mundane and lackluster as did her homework and studies. Matilda lost that spark of inspiration when she realized she can simply buy her way into success. There was no end of sycophants eager to win her hand. This abyss filling her head and soul culminated in an episode of dizziness resulting in Matilda tripping and falling into the ground, causing $20 worth of quarters to spill from the open palm of her hand. Since carrying loose change in large quantities wasn’t normal for a wealthy girl like her, it raised suspicions if that occurrence was supernatural in origin. While her father was quick to suppress the rumors by pulling some purse strings and diverting the Federal government away, Matilda knew she was treading on thin ice here. Being a source of infinite wealth stirred something in her parents. Their eyes showed a carnal desire of amassing more money for the sake of it. Within the walls of her bedroom, her own corner of privacy, Matilda tested her newfound ability. Much to her own surprise, a gold bar, like ones secured in Fort Knox, slipped out of her hand and fell to the floor with a heavy thud. A diamond came next, the size of a ripe orange. Euros, Rubles, Yen, all of it; currencies of 24 different countries. Making up her mind, Matilda decided to make a break for it. Since money is no longer an issue after running away, this could be a sign to try something different. Something grand. Matilda knows what she wants but she doesn't know where to go. RP Sample(Optional; helps me to see a glimpse of how your character acts): Freedom. Something more precious than gold. At least that's what is told in books of history and fairytales. But for all the talk of independence, Matilda was experiencing it. The cold air on her face. The soft sirens and screeches of tire marks from police cars and reckless drivers rang in her ears. Her footsteps echoed into the night sky. Lonely and alone on the sidewalk, never belonging anywhere. Twice she turned her head to see if she was being followed, twice she had to run and hide. She threw Benjamin bills onto the ground to keep them distracted enough to slip away. The excited cries signaled that her ploy was successful. Unbeknownst to the stalkers, it was pocket change to her real potential. "Damn it all." Matilda cursed, gritting her teeth as she looked up at the full moon. She stared as if directions would suddenly appear on the crater-filled surface. Directions, guidance, maybe even a big fat arrow sign pointing somewhere unknown and undiscovered.
