Max is often seen wearing a pair of tortoiseshell glasses that have no prescription lenses. These are a stylistic choice more than anything, but they do have transitions on them to allow them to become sunglasses.  Max, for the most part, is a kind hearted soul. He tends to keep to himself, focusing greatly on his studies and his advancement to bettering himself. If ever there is someone being bullied around him, Max will tend to stop what he is doing and attempt to help the one in need, not necessarily flaunting his skill but rather quickly disposing of the issue so that he can go back to his studies. He tended to be a very plain, studious, child until more recently when his life had changed.

 After the exposure to his powers, he lost his parents and has been more or less on the road. Becoming more adept at small time thievery, such as stealing food from shops, shifting his mentality of life quite a bit. He no longer views the world with rose tinted glasses. Seeing how many turned on him when he attained his powers showed him the reality of life. He is quick to help any mutants or enhanced humans who are in the same place as he is; and will help humans to show that mutants are not all bad.

Since meeting three mages that he holds to high esteem, Doctor Strange, Wanda Maximoff, and Runa, he has become more attached to his mystic powers. Seeing the extent of what such magic can do and wishing to wield it in a way that helps others without bending the world too much. Max tends to use his magic as a first resort if it appears to be the quickest route to ending a situation, this has caused for him to end up in a stickier situation than what had previously started but he truly believes that with more practice and use he can control the outcome of such mishaps and limit how often they arise.

[b][color=aba400]How did you discover your powers:[/color][/b] We've all heard the stories of mutants, or other beings, attaining their power from a stressful encounter. Bullies, explosions, parental abuse, you name it and it's probably happened. Maximillian was different however. His powers didnt emerge from a place of stress, fear, or abusive force thrust upon him; his powers emerge from a place of tranquility. Often times when searching for an answer to one of life's many curveballs, Max turned to meditation as the answer. He claimed he could 'search the cosmos and they would gift upon him clarity'. Ofcourse this wasnt literal...until it was.

 After practice one day, Max decided to hit the books, reading old books that were written in Latin. Hed taken this dead language at school and knew the only way not to lose it was to keep in practice with it, like translating old tomes. His adrenaline was still pumping and it made it rather difficult to concentrate on his translations so he took to meditation. He mentally spoke out to the cosmos and for once, they answered back. Some unknown force spoke to him, showing him what appeared to be words in his mind. Max immediately stopped and ran to scribble down the phrase written. Unable to translate it he threw the paper in frustration towards his full length mirror. The page now read "Magi fistula." Max spoke the words aloud and nothing happened, until he tried them in reverse "Alutsif Igam" energy began to form and distort in the area of his right hand, elongating and finally taking shape of a fighting cane. He had successfully conjured a weapon.

[hider=The Begining] Max grew up an only child. He was raised by his mother and father who did nothing but want to support their child, if not in their own way. Having always been a very studios kid, he was labeled a "Nerd" or "Geek" and thus began to be bullied at Middle School. He hid the bruises and shot ego for a while from his parents, until one day his mother caught a glimpse from under his sleeve. They brought it up to the principal and nothing came of it. That summer his dad was intent on helping Max by enrolling him in the Institute for Martial Arts. Hoping his new found skills would help Max fend against school Bullies.

 That summer Max trained his mind and body, quickly picking up some moves to help against bigger opponents. His father may have intended this as a way to help himself, but Max viewed it as a means to help others at the school. Upon returning from summer break the bullies were at it again, this time they didnt win. Max used his knowledge of Martial Arts to subdue the menace and to proclaim that if anyone was to attempt this around him again that he would personally see it stopped. From there life began to look up, he didnt pay much mind to the mutant struggles as they were hardly discussed at home.

 Going into High School the politics around mutants became more and more prevalent. His parents always spoke the word with such venom, that max dared not speak against it. He didnt quite understand the hostility towards them, how was it any different from say...a homosexual? That is to say, himself. His views were best kept secret as well as his sexuality, that was one thing his parents didnt have to control. He pressed forward, learning Latin and continuing his Martial Arts; began taking photography classes and was later gifted a camera. Now 17, Max has awoken to his new power and attempted to contact the cosmos everyday. Sometimes it was silence, other times guidance, and only on three occasions were words of power given. 

 When practicing his conjugation of fire, his mother walked in and proceeded to scream and cause a ruckus. His father came rushing in and saw that his son, no, this vile creature, was using powers within his household. Max quickly found out his parents were Purifier sympathizers and they immediately called the local gang to attempt to take their sun away. Max barely escaped his house, grabbing his bag that contained a few items, and then roughing it out in the world. He started hiding and sleeping amongst the homeless, as his friends turned him away. He stole food from stores that weren't heavily guarded, and attempted to make a life for not only himself, but any mutants that he came across.[/hider]

[hider=Mutant Underground]
As luck would have it, Max ran into a particular ornery mutant named Sunshine. Her blatant display of powers caused him to caution her around this district. Little did he know that that simple, seemingly innocuous act would change his life forever. What was something he had done dozens of time before, seemed to go down a road less traveled. Causing the mutant to follow him into a shop and inevitably force them both to go on the run with what would become one of his closest friends James. Through this he met the Morlocks, an unfortunately short lived union before they were introduced to the Mutant Underground. A rogue team of mutants attempting to help fellow mutants in ways the X-men couldn't. 

Life was never easy with them, his inability to control his powers causing him to be at ends with the group, making him doubt himself and ultimately fearing what it is that he was capable of doing. That is until he was coerced by another team of Mutants, joining the Hellfire Club where they wished to nurture his powers while keeping him and his late friend Leighton safe. It was there that Max was able to fully stretch out what he was capable of doing. Making use of their training room every chance he got and learning what it is that he was capable of doing, or so he thought. While at the Hellfire Club he, along with the rest of the world, was spirted away into an alternate reality caused by Wanda Maximoff. It was in this fantasy that he could feel the growth of his magic, the almost limitless feeling as  he was able to do things he never even dreamed of. 

In this reality he met two other mages beside Wanda. Runa, and Doctor Strange his future mentor and teacher of the arcane arts. Together they fought against this worlds creator and her legion of minions, finally breaking through to her and allowing her to see reason which caused her to shift the world back to how it was before, but only a few kept the memories of that reality. Now back at the HC Max tested his newfound knowledge, pushing past what he had ever attempted and doing wordless magic, creating a space of safety and wonder for just him. He finally saw his worth, lost the fear that had gnawed in the back of his mind, and became obsessed with reaching the peaks he had seen in the distance.

After a series of unfortunate events, Leighton was killed, he was left with no one, and he broke down attacking the Underground in a wave of grief. By the end of the encounter he had become numb, joining back to the Mutant Underground and seeing the Hellfire Club for who they fully were. His control had gotten better, his emptiness slowly subsiding as he waded through the days feeling unwanted until a few kinds souls showed him otherwise. A new power awakened within him as he was being mentally assaulted. The ability to teleport without the use of magic. It was exciting, yet daunting as he now struggled to control two powers just as he thought he was beginning to get one.[/hider]

Following Max's leave from the Underground he had decided it was time to focus his time to better understanding and controlling his magic. He sought out the aid of Doctor Strange, having been his most unconventional student, he decided to appear to him through a random door he had created. It lead him towards Stranges' New York sanctum where he would spend the next five months training under his tutelage. He was a strict instructor who wished for his students to become self sufficient. Max learned to search for knowledge himself, trying to befriend Wong the caretaker of the library full of ancient arts, and spent every waking hour studying. It was there that Max began to learn the wider range of magics, saw artifacts that some wielded such as his masters cape among many others. Max secretly wished that one would choose him, but that time hadn't come.

After eight months had passed, Max caught wind of mutants in need of help. He thanked Strange for his time and informed him that he was needed out there. Max left the Sanctum and began to do what he had done once before for the Mutant Underground. Using his powers this time to help ferry families from unsafe locations to more mutant friendly neighborhoods. It was during one of these missions that he found his son Dorian. Before Max was able to arrive to their location, they had already been taken out but bigots. Max made quick work of the Flatscans, teleporting them away towards the waters of New York and seeing only the baby survived. He wanted to go back to Strange, learn more from him and grow, but the Sanctum was no place for an infant, and so he made the decision that joining Xavier's was the best course. There his son would have schooling provided for him, he would grow up in a mutant friendly environment in the event that he ever developed powers like his parents, and Max could continue to help out in his own way, setting to change the way the X-men handled mutant affairs from the inside out. Sadly they said he had to be a few years older before they would allow him in, so Max sent Dorian to be in the care of the Kingston's while Max would work hard to make sure there was a place for his son at Xavier's.[/hider]
