The large man looked like he was wearing damp and partially bloody clothes, his ever jolly smile did not seem to make the people in the streets any less worried about what or who he is. The walk back to his warehouse was uneventful, his kind demeanor did not drop until he was inside the building. Out of the eye of the public view and around the few members of his people he had brought with him, his shoulders slumped down into a relaxed posture. The smile faded to be replaced by a straight face with a sigh. One of the others in the room approached him and leaned against a support pillar while Roman rubbed his face, “Erik, do you have a report for me.” Roman asked his voice did not portray anger or sadness more tired than anything. “I do sir. Most of the royal family will be leaving tonight Sadie will be staying along with Verrick, Dr. Williamson, Sir. Larson, Lady Zarai, Count Ryn, Lady Mina, Lady Thea, and Lord Leo.” Pausing for a moment to think, “Those are the ones staying. The queen and king will be taking their personnel as well and your Sister Sasha will be taking responsibility for their protection back to the main land. I believe that your Brother Erikson will be taking the role of sentinel in the capitol city.” Roman mulled over the information for a moment, his sister was the best choice for protection over the sea as her “merchant ship” The Dawn Rose was the best warship they had and her specialty with naval warfare was excellent. Erikson was also a good choice to play that role, being the head representative of the Ravenwood house and crafting guild in the capitol city, a draining but necessary job. Having to both play the role of a bureaucrat and hidden general was tough at the best times. “Did she give us any new orders or anyone we are to report too?” Roman asked his subordinate. “No sir, as far as I’m aware our orders are still the same, continue our efforts to keep the civilian populace here content, possibly sway them to our side, and otherwise keep the peace to the best of our ability. If everything does go to Hel, the queen has authorized you to mobilize us and extricate all of the Varian citizens from the kingdom before prioritizing citizens of the other nations.” The report was professional, brief, and without emotion just as they had trained their entire lives. “There is also talk of a few outsiders in the city from kingdoms we do not have much information on, I suggest you reach out to them for trade deals.” “Well at least she still trusts me. I know some of the others were looking forward to the summer solstice celebration tonight but I believe we should push it out for about 4 days given the events of last night.” Erik nodded, “you don’t remember anything from last night too huh? But I’m sure the others will understand.” “Yeah I don’t have a clue but I came out of it a bit better than the others. There are definitely other forces at work here and I do not have a good feeling about it. Be sure that everyone stays alert to their surroundings. I’ll give everyone a full brief of what’s going on tonight.” Roman began to pick up a few of his things for the blacksmithing class he was putting on. “And sir the queen did tell me to remind you to take it easy and relax. You don’t have to play the fool as strong as you currently are and you also need to find a wife too, at the very least to avoid suspicion.” Erik said the last part with a smile. “Dam I play the fool so well though.” He said while picking up his hammer and a jar of water. “We are well aware sir.” The smaller man said with a bit of a snicker. Roman glanced at the man with a slight glare. “Also please inform her on our next report that I will be contacting prince Callum or Princess Anna to come to live in our territory, they are not very high on the inheritance chart and honestly I dont wish for them to suffer any more than they already do. we of course will give them new identities and spread rumors of their false where about around the other kingdoms if they accept.” “you always had a soft spot for those two” “what? they remind me of my siblings, and anna is pretty cute.” Roman nodded to his friend, beginning to move back outside with his hammer and smiting supplies. “Good job so far, I’m going to go work on these blacksmith lessons. I believe buying and giving out some food for the citizens in the slums is a good idea, try to get one of the guys to do that sometime this week.” Roman said as he walked out and toward the blacksmith.
Arriving at the blacksmith he could already tell that some of his men were already getting to work handing out materials and making sure everyone had the proper tools and space to set up their things. There was not many people here other than what looked like a few locals he did notice the two boys that were tasked with keeping his room clean in attendance even if they looked a bit unsure of themselves. “Alright I apologize for being a little late I had some issues come up that needed addressed. Now then I would like to remind you that I will be hosting these sessions one to two times a week for an hour or two at a time. Once you have proven you can do the basics you are allowed to use our resources and the teachers at hand to help you with your own projects.” He spoke while setting out his tools. “Your first project is learning how to reforge metal, more precisely, turning one of the rail road spikes in front of you into small knives or daggers. The other instructors will be assisting you with this while I work with the more advanced among you.” To set a good enough example that even he was taking his safety seriously, Roman took off his shirt and put his leather apron on. He did start off the class by giving some examples of how hot you wanted the metal to glow in the furnace and how to properly swing a hammer and use an anvil to shape the metal before stepping back to let the students work and let the three other journeyman smiths he brought with him to teach the class giving pointers here and there with a smiles and friendly demeanor.
