Your counterargument is lazy and doesn't work.

There are no harpies in Akitsushima. It's a distance of over ten thousand miles and two oceans. To boot, the closest thing to an ancestral home for them is actually [i]over the veil[/i], so that's another reduction in the odds any would resettle on literally the opposite side of the world and then traipse back.
