It depends on your species. Certain races would know more about the relic. To not give too much away some see it as fabled, some have heard about it from rumors, others have um, acquired information about the relic and there's are those who have even seen it in the Warp. Orks just see it as a 'shiny speshul choppa'. Make of that what you will, the relic is a powerful weapon.
