As Esme looked at the window listening to the commotion outside, she felt Duke’s hands flex around her waist as she asked her question. She knew he was, just as much as she, was getting tired of the interruptions during these moments. As he pondered his answer, she turned her gaze back to him, watching his face intently. If she was being truthful with herself, she didn’t want to get in the middle of whatever was going on out there. She had had enough of being hit with negative emotions this morning and having someone yell in her face. She knew if she were to say what she was thinking out loud, she’d sound completely selfish but she didn’t really care at that moment. She was thoroughly enjoying being drowned in all the love and positive emotions coming from Duke. She was letting them take her over and was getting drunk off them. As soon as Duke shook his head, and then leaned down and kissed her deeply, she was pretty sure she knew what his answer was. She felt her heart skip a beat as she closed her eyes and kissed him back. She then brought her hand back to his cheek after it fell from turning towards the window. When he pulled away, she also took in a deep breath, a smile returning to her lips as he nuzzled her nose. Her smile grew at his words and she nuzzled his nose again. “I was hoping you would say that.” she whispered sweetly against his lips with a light laugh. She lightly brushed her lips over his and closed her eyes. “Neither of us needs that negativity right now.” Esme then brushed her lips over his again before kissing him sweetly, then slid her arms around his neck.
