Vasco lived in his native Colombia for six years before his father left the military and quickly convinced his mother to move to the United States. A move that both surprised Vasco and his siblings and while his father's reason was that he wished to get away from the troubles that plagued Colombia, like the corruption and guerrilla/paramilitary conflict. Vasco would later, as he grew, he thought it had to do with his time in the army since that is a subject that his father would always avoid if he could. Now living in Houston, his father managed to open up a small bar and was the main source of income for the family as his mother struggled to find a job. Still, his family adjusted to living in America and for a time. Life was going well for them after Vasco's mother landed a teaching job and his father's bar started to grow. But then things took a turn when he was sixteen when his parents got into a car accident and were killed. Now parentless and grieving for his dead parents. His older brother Ernesto in order to provide for the family. Dropped out of college to support them and took over the family bar. At first, things were touch and go for the family as Ernesto struggled in his new job. That stress turned him to take drugs, and it got bad enough that he was addicted, plus drinking the bar's alcohol. Which made money tight, and it put a strain on the bar and on Vasco and his sister. Who would be tired of him being on drugs all of the time and tried to get their brother to stop. This only ended in arguments, and no matter what they said, Ernesto would not stop, and it would catch up to him. By the time that Vasco graduated from high school, Ernesto would be busted during a drug dealer bust and got sent to prison. Now in the same situation as before. It was only Vasco and his sister now, and Vasco took over the family bar to support his sister. Giving up his scholarship, and he figured he could always go to college later somehow. So things started to recover with both the bar and their lives now that Ernesto was gone. The bar started to recover, but its reputation because of Ernesto's handling of the bar did not really recover. Still, it was better than nothing, and by the time his sister graduated from high school. Things were looking up and when his sister got a scholarship to the University of California in Los Angeles. She begged Vasco to come with her there since she did not want to be alone in a new city. Especially one as far away as Los Angeles. So after thinking about it, Vasco agreed. He sold the bar and moved with his sister to Los Angeles. There Vasco lived with his sister while he worked on getting an online degree in business. For he is planning on starting his own business as his father did. However, he is unsure if he wants to open a bar like his father or something else. Regardless of his future, for once, Vasco in a long time. He felt at peace, like things were going well for him and his sister despite what had happened to them. Maybe moving to Los Angeles was the right choice. Getting away from their bad memories in Houston and starting new in Los Angeles. Having good friends helps with that, and now Vasco thinks of the future and hopes that things stay this way.
| MISCELLANEOUS |
Vasco is a good mixologist.
