Back when the worlds of Final Fantasy first started to collapse, the residents of those worlds didn’t see it as much of a threat however, when more worlds started to collapse, people started to panic and were eventually overwhelmed with a sense of hopelessness. Of course, this collapse had been noticed by the Sentinels, a group of individuals who frequently traveled the rift which soon led them to spring into action. Because of this, they ended up building a school within the Rift which would act as a sanctuary and permanent home for those that the Sentinels managed to save with the construction of the school having been completed in a few years.

The school was named after Cosmos, a goddess present in the cycles of war that had taken place in the past within a world known only as World B. While it was never revealed why the Sentinels chose to name the academy after her, it had also been discovered that those who came to the academy were often missing some or all of the memories of their home worlds which was a cause for concern for quite a few of the Sentinels.

However, despite acting as a sanctuary, the school is… about as normal as a  school with Final Fantasy characters can be with clubs, classes, and the sort all available for the students as well as other normal school events as well. There are also dorms available for the students and faculty as well.
