Elizabeth " Doc " Baudelaire
" Humanity will evolve once we stop fearing the unknown. " GENERAL Who I Am: The horrors of fear and sickness is something Elizabeth Baudelaire was no stranger to. When she was much younger, Eliza witnessed first hand what fear can make humans do. Her mother, Collette Baudelaire, was well-known in the area for her medical achievements. Though they seem meager compared to modern medicine, her creations were considered other-worldly at the time. Her studies progressed swiftly, edging closer and closer to a revolutionary discovery. During this time, a plague had taken out many of the residents and, along with the mysterious rotting of their crops, this was enough to suspect witch-craft at play. Searches were performed by The Bishop and his men. Whenever someone was accused of witch-craft, their house was flipped upside down, torn up from the inside-out.. If anything was found in their house, They were dragged to the middle of town, and burned at the stake, hanged, stoned to death; Whatever The Bishop felt was a good enough punishment. Collette was soon enough outed for her medicine and the sort, Being labeled the ‘ Mistress of Satan ‘. She was apprehended and executed. The young girl had witnessed many deaths during her short-time alive, both brought by the plague and by the witch-trials. However, This particular was, obviously, different. The initial numbness, then the wave of emotions. It hurt worse. The people of her community reassured young Eliza that the pain of losing her mother would lessen. Truthfully, this pain and dread would simply grow over the years, festering up deep within her. With no known family to watch over her, she was thrust into the harsh arms of the foster system. Despite the anger and sadness she still felt, Eliza knew she couldn’t become consumed by thoughts of revenge. She continued her mother’s legacy by pursuing a career in medicine. She earned a reputation as the youngest, and only, medical prodigy in her town, went on to earn both her PhD and MD, and became well-known for her work. Her research into biotechnologies led to a scientific breakthrough that revolutionized medicine by slowing down the aging of cells, almost fully stopping the process. This injection allowed Elizabeth to live longer, long enough to continue on with her studies. This new-founded biotechnology has been kept a secret, as she fears it could be misused if it landed in the wrong hands. Days turned into months, months into years and years into centuries. Now, a much older Elizabeth lives alone; With nobody alive that remembers her medical achievements. Despite this, She continues to research and work, slowly perfecting her ways of helping others. Romantic Interests: It has been said by Eliza herself that she's dibbled and dabbled in all sorts of relationships during her prime, having married both a man and a woman. Of course, not at the same time.. However, she is currently single and may remain so, as it's hard to put up with someone as emotionally constipated as her. She appears to be a cynical misanthrope whose genius drives her headfirst into her work, hardly bothering with any relationships outside of the ones she gains something from. While Eliza is very critical of others and sometimes downright hurtful, it’s clear she doesn’t wish anyone inherently bad (sometimes) and simply tries to solve her problems the one way she can, through tough love and cursing, a trait picked up over the years. Likes: > Candies. Soft and chewy preferred. > Peasants meal. A meal made up by her mother, including chunks of beef roast, potatoes, carrots, and any other ingredient they had at the time, all throw into one stew. Sometimes this would be sided with a butter roll, on special occasions. > Children. Now, every time I put this, people always assume the worst, so I'm going to give you an explanation. While Eliza will gladly curse anyone out and has little to no patience with damn near everyone, this does not apply to children. She has a soft spot for them, and will almost always treat them with nothing but kindness and care. Dislikes: > Crowded rooms. Whether this is a claustrophobia thing, or simple an anti-social thing is unclear, however it is clear that she absolutely hates being in a room packed with people. A group or two is fine, but too many will cause a not-so-happy eliza. > Being touched. It seems most of my characters have a thing with being touched, but Eliza is the worst. She will become utterly annoyed if touched by someone she does not know, or even someone she does know. She will not hesitate to tell you to fuck off and stop touching her. LIFESTYLE Occupation: As stated in her biography, Elizabeth is a doctor. Though, she spends more of her time researching than anything, simply using the hospitals lab for resources, as she cannot afford the high-tech gear needed.
