Fashionably late was the reason he was going to give. But the reality was that he had only arrived back in Tanner yesterday. He had spent most of that day unpacking his shit from college, as well as getting used to his new accommodation. Mother and father were pretty clear that after college he had to find his own place. They were willing to help him on his feet, but he had to look after himself. In all honesty, he preferred it that way. After living in dorm rooms for three years away from his parents, he was ready to enjoy his freedom even more. The energy exerted yesterday meant that he ended up sleeping in today and totally flaking out on the meeting. Still, he managed to come later in the afternoon and catch Carlisle to get caught up on everything. That was an experience in and of itself. He was glad that Carlisle dropped out of college and went back to Tanner, as he found the male insufferable at times. Always so wound up and peculiar. He also bumped into the covens latest newbie, some girl named Hayden. Learning she was an item with Kolby made Zach immediately lose interest. He couldn't give a rat's ass who hung off that piece of shits arm. He did learn about the party, and that made him happy. He could do parties. Arriving at said party, late once again, Zach took a moment to walk over to the drinks table and find the largest bottle of whiskey he could find. Seeing a single unopened bottle, he took it and popped the lid off and began taking a drink of it. Looking around he headed for the garden to get some fresh air. He had to admit that the garden was quite beautiful, and he had missed it. College dorms were just full of tight rooms with little green space. He took up a position over by the bushes, away from the main party and the veranda. He had been so wrapped up in his own little world that he didn’t exactly notice what was going on to the side of him. It wasn’t until he witnessed the blue hue of the barrier fall over Tanner did the lonesome little drinker begin to suspect anything was wrong. Still. It wasn’t his problem right? So he did what Zach did best, carried on drinking. It wasn’t until a little later, when he started to hear people out in the garden did he actually start to respond. Walking past the hedges and into the side of the garden, the sight that greeted him was one that he wasn’t quite ready for. Sitting on the bench appeared to be Carlisle, who seemed to be as rigid as a statue. Zach watched as Miles punches Carlisle in the face, he himself standing on the very edge of the hedge, as to not be in anyone’s way. Hearing the sound of fist on skin, Zach began to slowly clap, a smile all over his face as Miles observed the impact of his punch. ”Been telling you since college bro. You needed to punch Carlisle in the face. Nice to see you have finally taken that advice to heart”. It was hard to tell if Zach was being serious or just trying to lighten the mood.
