A skittish breeze slips through the cracked door, and with it the taste of salt. Neither a sea nor ocean here, no, and yet the breath of summer, hot and damp, suggests otherwise. With a single hearty push against the sun-bleach planks, the door opens fully, and the sihouette of a foreign man fills the frame. Hold on, "foreign"? A roleplayer from a far off community, he must be. Afterall, who else would have the audacity to make you read through a whole paragraph... ...Before even giving his name?
Hello, strangers! My name is Elsewise, and it has been a long time since I have used or posted on forums of any kind, so forgive any breaches of etiquette and substandard formatting while I learn again. In fact, despite participating in the hobby for over ten years, I've very rarely used boards like this for roleplaying itself. My most used platform -- and subsequently most preferred -- is actually Discord. However, I got my start with freeform pen and paper before transitioning into tabletop roleplaying. My roots were primarily cultivated in Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Edition (DnD 5e), and I still play it to this day. As a lover of fantasy stories and a bit of a hobby writer myself, I naturally found D&D to be a welcome creative outlet. However, I didn't rediscover my love for freeform roleplay until around 2018. That was the year I joined a D&D-centered Discord server, and by pure chance, happened to stumble upon an open tavern roleplay. I was hooked immediately! From there, I branched out into dedicated rp servers which catered to my interests, largely involving superheroes. Through this, I discovered the more competitive, player versus player aspect of the hobby: Combat Roleplaying. From around 2021 onwards, CRP has been my general focus -- and I definitely have a lot to learn on that front! D&D and ttrpgs aside, my other interests broadly fall within the realms of comicbooks, anime/manga, illustrative art/drawing, animation, and videogames. And of course, reading fiction. Sci-fi and science-fantasy easily compete with traditional medieval fantasy as my favorite genres, and simply indulging in flashy, over-the-top action is a guilty pleasure of mine. So... yeah. That's me. I might not be around much, but I'll try not to be a nuisance when I am. ^_^
