I’m curious. When you read an interest check, what are the qualities that make you most want to engage with it? Conversely, which qualities do you find unconvincing or even off-putting? I’m talking about the specifics of the creator’s pitch and how it’s presented, agnostic to genre and category. Otherwise, everyone’s prime answer would be a variation of “being a fantasy casual group roleplay”. I’ll put my answer in a hider in case you want to give your own response without being influenced.
What most attracts me: Concrete story prompts that I can immediately do something with. If I can visualise not just an appropriate character concept but also what that character’s role and development will likely be over the course of the story, that really makes me want to play. Especially if the suggested story has a natural end point, which gives me much more faith that the roleplay will go the distance and reach a conclusion instead of quietly petering out. What I find unconvincing: Broad descriptions of original settings, even if they are creative and interesting. It’s just too many steps removed from anything concretely usable and it doesn’t inspire confidence that it’s going to go anywhere.
