“What the doc doesn't know won’t hurt her, and I don’t plan to tell her as long as you don’t.” He added with a wink of his own. Sam agreed to the drink, but as long as dinner was involved. Come to think of it, Xander had hardly eaten anything as well. With everything going on his stomach must have just been keeping quiet, but now that she had mentioned something he realized how famished he actually was. ”Heh. Deal. I’m sure there’s something in the kitchen we could scrounge up. Though it might take me a bit, given the arm and all.” He said moving his left shoulder just enough to wiggle his broken arm. Before they could discuss any more details, Skye called out to them from the rec room. Sam nodded towards the room indicating he should follow. He obliged. Inside, Skye offered the two a glass of port while commenting on the doctor’s orders. It was rare to see her openly suggest they do something that was technically against the rules, but then again she was boss. The rules were whatever she said, and Xander was happy to go along. He slowly walked over and picked up his glass then raised it towards Skye’s. “Cheers, mum!” He said as their glasses clinked. He took a big swig from his before making his journey past everyone lounging in the rec area and into the kitchen nearby. He set his glass on the counter and opened the large refrigerator to see what ingredients they had on hand. There were plenty of options to choose from, and by far enough to make food for everyone, now it was just a matter of what he could manage. As he was looking, Skye let them know all their paperwork had been done then made a sly remark about how Sam had even made Xander look professional. He peered his head out from the fridge and fired back. “Hey. I am always professional! Isn’t that right, fridge?” The top of the minifridge near the bar opened up to reveal the lobber he had installed previously, only instead of loading any cans or bottles, it simply moved up and down as if it were nodding before folding back in. “The fridge agrees. Now, how do burgers sound to everyone?” Xander asked to the room as he pulled out a large package of ground beef. “Say ‘pass’ if you’re not hungry.” Xander continued to pull out all the utensils and prep any cookware he would need while making a mental headcount of everyone who answered him. He could feel his legs ache and shake with each step as he walked around the kitchen. It wasn’t unbearable, but it was definitely taking him a lot more effort than it should to make food. For a moment he wondered if he could get approval to use his exo outside of missions for the next few weeks, but lost his train of thought when Freya started to raise her voice. Xander could only imagine what fear the person on the other end of that call felt as she became angrier with each word. At the end, she was able to cool her rage and apologized to the room. “No worries. We’ve all had a long few days. If you want, I could use help with the patties. Smashing on some meat might be a good stress relief?” He suggested to the giantess. Getting started himself, Xan began rolling and mashing the beef with his good hand until he had formed the first patty. He placed it on a plate he had set aside and started working on the second one. Once he had finished another, Mateao joined the party and asked how everyone was feeling. “Well me arms busted, it hurts to walk or even stand for too long, and worst of all the doc has ordered me to ‘behave’ until I’m back in top shape. So you lot are safe for the time being. But mark my words, soon as I’m outta this thing, I’m gonna have something planned for all of you.” He gave a mischievous cackle before adding another patty to the stack and took the plate over to the griddle.
